The water drifted up to my toes before retreating back towards the shore. The best time for a beach visit was at one in the morning when it was silent. There was nothing to disrupt the peace and quiet.
Every night at 12:30, I'd leave my house and walk to the beach.
I was never one to sleep easy, yet the older I got, the easier sleep came to me.
I listened, taking in the silence before it was ruined. Like always.
100 metres from where I stood, he began walking down the white sand. He still doesn't know I'm here. The amount of times he's visited while I've been here, he's never - not once - noticed me.
I like it that way.
I had never seen his face, just a small silhouette outline of his body in the distance.
Some days were different than other. Some days he'd sit. Other days he wouldn't even step foot on the sand, just stand on the grass.
Thoughts wracked my brain as I wondered who he was. Why he was here?
I'd been coming here for almost a year now, yet he's only been coming out for a month.
He was the mysterious boy I wanted to know more about. I needed to know more about him.
It was killing me inside.
