Chapter 2

I stood there completely still, I felt like a complete idiot, actually more like a puppy waiting for his owner to come out any minute.

I was actually on the verge of being an investigator, to investigate whatever happened to him, on why he was like that, on why he acted like that.

After about a few seconds of standing there like a complete idiot, I unpacked all my stuff and changed my clothes. I even prepared some food for Harry and I, just to keep things calm.

When he got out of the bathroom, I immediately called out his name.

"Hey, Harry. I made you something to eat-" and another door was shut infront of me face. I swear to God, I want to talk to him and keep him calm, even if its the last thing I would do.

"Jeez! What the hell is wrong?" I muttered to myself. I thought my first day in Portland would be great but it didn't actually turn out to be one. I just really hope our hang-out later would make it all up.

Turning on the tv, as I sat down on my -- I mean our new couch. He was a bit harsh, but its actually not that bad if you're having a problem. I just have to be patient with him, since we're roommates now. And we have to deal with everything in our lives, now that we live together. Bloody hell! That turned out to be wrong. I should call for help.

So I did. I typed in her number as I waited for a few seconds until she could answer.

"Hello?" I missed her voice already, even though it was only a couple of hours ago since our last conversation.

"Margo, I freakin' miss ya already." I said as she squealed like a five year old girl.

"Ava? I miss you too." I could feel her smile, on the other line.

"Wait - are you cryin'?" I ask as she lets out a soft giggle.

"Just a tear, y'know?" She sarcastically answers, "so...how is Portland?"

My mind ran into more complicated stuff, that made me more confused and just serious. I ran a hand through my messy hair as I thought about her question. How is Portland?

"Alot of stuff happened unexpectedly, to be honest." I answer her, which was somehow true. I sighed, which made her ask how and why.

"Well, you know Eryn, right? The one I talked to you about." I said.

"Yeah, Fletcher, is it?" My smile turns upside down at the sudden thought of my real roommate.

"That's the one."

"She's your roommate, I know that part too.." and there goes my life, a lot of expectations.

"Well she's a bit close to me if you see it in another angle,"

I could feel her knuckles tighten up. "She is your roommate, right?" She asked, quite serious for the matter.

"I mean if you see it in another way-"

"Ava! Who's your roommate?"

"I swear I didn't know."

She sighed and said, "Tell me everything about your roommate. The bloody name, the age, records, where he/she once lived, everything! Within the freaking hour."

"Are you serious-"

"Now, Ava!" And she ends the call, this was what I was afraid of. I just hope Harry's safe as hell could ever be.

-

Ten minutes. Only ten minutes left until the hour ends. I already finished my sudden research, and all I had to do was give it to her already. According to the page I found about Harry, he's been arrested twice for saving a young woman from getting forced for marrying a guy he just met, which was odd because I found out that Harry didn't even know this woman. I looked more into the profile and read it softly until-

"I'm going out, if you want to come with, then change as fast as you can." Harry's voice jolted my wake as I dropped all of the papers out of me hand. Still in shock, I tried to pick everything up without him helping me.

"I'll be staying home for the day, I guess." I said as he only gave me a reassuring look until he could leave me in our place. I sighed in relief. To be honest, I was still shaking a bit but I controlled it and contacted my sister for her sudden assignment for me.

"Ava?" Her voice a bit stern.

"Y-yeah. I got it."

"Good. Just send it to me."

"Already done-"

"Sorry I forgot my jacket and-" He came back as I tried covering my tracks earlier before he could get out again.

"Just my sister," I said as he shrugged off his shoulders and went to his room only to get his jacket.

"Just a little bit more and - done," I said as we both say goodbye to each other. I hope nothing changes with her decision in agreeing with the Portland thing. I'm not actually enjoying at the moment but I know if I try to get myself distracted with the negative things, I'll be fine.

I walked up to the door as I put on my coat and think about the food I should buy for Harry and I this week. As I open the door, I heard his voice boom up out of the blue.

"Going somewhere?" the tone of his voice mixed with sarcasm.

"I remembered I was going grocery shopping today." I answered. Harry wasn't even close to getting convinced.

"Really? Because I'm willing to come with you then."

"I thought you were going somewhere else."

"And it's with you," My face was buried with pink mixed up with a bit of red. I was blushing? I couldn't have let him see it. It's too embarrassing.

"Are you sure?" I asked again, not wanting to pressure him or anything.

"Yes, of course."

"O-okay" I stuttered as we walk out of the place and see my life at stake once again with Harry. I just hope the day would work out for the both of us.
