It felt like I had just fallen asleep when our instructors came barging in through the door. My first thought was that they had somehow heard us, or found out about our plan, but with a quick glance out the door, I realized that the sun was just emerging, and it was just time for the day to start.
The instructor's took our cabin out to the road area where all the other boys were standing. One instructor stood at the front of our groups.
"Everybody in a line. GO GO GO!" The trainer yelled. "Here's you're uniforms." He said. We all stood holding our outfits. "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, PUT THEM ON!" We all fumbled around and put them on as quick as we could. "Today we will be learning how to assemble, hold, and shoot a gun. But first... Six miles around the road! GO GO GO!"
I followed everyone else as they started to slowly jog around the first lap.
"First one to finish gets an extra serving of food tonight! GO GO GO!!" I wanted extra servings... but there were older boys here they were much faster, and stronger than I.
I sprinted around the track. Running always helped me clear my mind, and it was one thing I was pretty good at, but one thing stayed in the back of my mind, the escape.
I looked for Amare, he was way at the end, sweating. I guess it had been 15 laps, we had 9 left. It would take forever to slow down to him and the instructors would see me. I looked at the clock on the wall as we passed it.
It read: 5:07. I suspect if will take about... another 15 minutes. After that we will probably the gun practice, oh and eat breakfast!
Up above (holding the gun) is Toby learning how to load, hold, and shoot his gun.
