"I'm cold," Luke says while turning his back from Michael. He begins to strip off his sweater when Michael exclaims loudly.
"Wha-Right here?!" Michael exclaimed. Luke faces his friend who's laying on the bed in his room. There was absolute terror in his eyes. Luke chuckles.
"What? It's just a shirt," He responds.
"Yeah, well I-" Michael starts, but quickly stops mid sentence. He mentally cursed at himself for almost telling Luke he was gay. Sadly, Luke noticed.
He frowned, "You what? You okay Mikey?" His eyes widened and he sat next to Michael on the bed.
Don't call me thattttt Michael said mentally.
"I mean...I closed all the windows I was just gonna put on a sweater or something. I didn't think you'd mind," Luke said trying to explain himself to his friend. He didn't like when his guests felt uncomfortable in his home- especially Michael.
"No no, it's okay," Michael said calmly, "I-I'm just cold now too." Michael felt a little guilty about lying, but it was only to save himself the pain and earn him more precious time with Luke. Luke let out a sigh of relief.
"Oh! Well, that's ok. I got a sweater you can borrow," He said. He walked over to his closet and searched through it. Soon after, he walked back over to Michael with two different sweaters. One was black, and the other was black with a penguin on it.
"Which one you want?"
"I'll take the black one."
Luke tossed Michael the black sweater and began to finish stripping off his shirt. Michael watches eyeing his flat looking stomach, then turns away quickly. He scoots to the opposite end of the bed and tries to take of his shirt as fast as possible.
He didn't want Luke to see how ugly he was.
Little did he know Luke was thinking the exact opposite. He noticed how closed off Michael had become lately. Not hanging out together on weekends, not sitting next to each other in physics class, and not even spending the night. That is when they were alone. Other than now, he'd only ever hung out with Michael when Ashton or Calum were there too. He wanted to know why his best friend was suddenly avoiding him.
"Hey Michael?" Luke said breaking the silence. He faced a shirtless Michael who instantly caved in on himself. He felt small and didn't like having Luke's eyes on him. He shouldn't have to put up with staring at his hideous fat body. Michael hid the guilt.
"Yeah?" He said facing Luke and sucking in his stomach as far as he could. Luke gave Michael a worried expression.
"I just wanna know...what happened to us? I mean we used to be such good friends," he stated sadly. He reached out to touch Michael's shoulder but he flinched away. Luke noticed and then met eyes with him.
"Listen...I don't know what's been up with you lately," Luke scooted closer. "but I'll do anything to be your friend again."
oh god if only you knew Michael thought.
"L-Luke...it's not what you think.." Michael quickly threw on his sweater. He knew this was a mistake. This night over was a mistake. He just wanted a little more time with him...but it's over now. He's gotta go.
Michael scurried towards the door gathering his things and repeating the same words over and over again.
I go-otta go i-it's too late gotta go I'm s-sorry I gotta go it's too l-late
Luke watched him panic and quickly tried to calm him.
"Michael, listen to me," Luke said. He reached out for Michael's hand, but he quickly jerked it back.
