Chapter 2:

Riley's POV:

The blinding sunrise peeped through the small crack where my curtains had opened a little bit. The light had managed to wake me up from my peaceful slumber and awakened me into the reality of the world. My short legs flipped over the side of my bed as my small feet slid into my fluffy elephant slippers. My tired legs trailed me into the kitchen where I switched on my noisy kettle which sounded like ringing to my ears. I definitely need a new one. Steam filled the room giving me the signal that my water had been boiled. I tiredly poured the water into the cup as i watched the coffee beans blend together with the hot water. Once i was satisfied with my hot drink, I took my heavy feet into the bathroom where i started my usual morning routine. I had work today, and the worst thing was is that its my longest shift of the week. I mean who wants to work a long ass 12 hour shift on a monday. As i eventually finished my morning routine, i pulled my feet from my warm comfy slippers and into my uncomfortable wedges which made me grow a few centre metres taller in height. I grabbed my keys from the rack and placed my white blazer over my shoulders whilst checking the time that read 8:40 am. Fortunately, my work was not that far away meaning that i didnt have to spend my money on the bus as i dont have a car. I locked up my apartment as I stared at the door where the mysterious man lives. I had always heard from neighbours that he has always been self-contained and quiet but i had never crossed his path so i wouldnt know. My gaze left the door as i remembered the real reason for leaving my warm bed. My tired steps slowly but surely carried me to work as a eventually stood behind the checkout. Customers came in and out all day making my day go a little more faster than expected. When I looked at the clock it read 6 pm, making me automatically recognise that i only have 3 hours left until i can leave. As i was folding some clothes, i seen from the corner of my eye that a figure had came up to the desk. Without looking up I immediately welcomed the customer with "hello and welcome to shine, did you find everything you were looking for today?". It was only until the figure didnt reply when i looked up to notice that the figure was no other person than the mysterious man from the apartment. I studied his features as the smirk evident on his face mirrored the one from yesterday. I must admit he manipulates me. I gave him a small smile as i once again focused on the shoes that he was waiting to buy. I scanned the shoes and told him the price he needed to pay. He retrieved his wallet from his back pocket and handed me two $10 bills. As i placed the shoes in the bag, i cleared my throat and  finally said " erm thankyou for last night you really didnt have to help me" he then responded with nothing but the same head nod i received last night. Just as i put the receipt in his bag. He took the bag off of the counter and walked back afew steps. " the names jai" he mysteriously mentioned as he gave a quick wink followed by his well-known smirk and quickly walked out the door without one last glance. My eyes followed his figure as his previous actions left me not only baffled but confused.
