Riley's POV:
Agonisingly slowly, the two bulky men turned around towards the sudden opening of my apartment door. The flickering light of the corridor increasing my fear and curiosity as it emphasised the smug smirks pasted across their faces. With a slight glance towards Jai and eachother, their arms crossed firmly against their tattooed chests as they took small steps towards the door where Jai and myself stood while their large shoes made their every move more manipulative.
My observation of the two was quickly broken when a sly cackle left one of the large men's mouth. I looked to the left of me where Jai stood with a harsh yet fearful stare.
"So..." The left man with the big biceps started. "Jai... we've been looking for you"
"Now's not the time Michael" Jai replied nervously with a quick glance towards my curious self. Michael. He doesnt really look like a michael but not the point Riley.
The man on the right laughed with a smug smirk. "When will be the time then Jai? You owe us... big style"
Owe him? Owe him what? I mentally thought to myself.
Jais nervous eyes trailed towards me as my confused and curious eyes searched his own.
"What does he owe you?" I spoke up.
The two men shifted their gaze to me.
They let out a sly laugh. "Oh I see she doesnt even know whats going on here does she Jai?". They questioned smugly.
Jais gaze never left the floor.
"Doesnt know what? Jai..." I questioned.
Jai stood silently.
"Here let me tell you princess... you see Jai here has got into alot of trouble recently and he has done things you are obviously not too fond of... He owes us alot of money and we are here to get it from him" They finally released.
"Why does he owe money?" I questioned again curiously.
Michael let out some sort of grunt before Jai tried to interrupt.
"Look Riley this isnt the time we can talk about thi-" He attempted to speak.
"No tell me" I stared at the two men.
"Drugs sweetie... Lots of 'em".
My jaw dropped as my head snapped to Jais disappointed face.
"Riley I can explain I ne-"
"What is there to explain Jai?" I tested. "So you took drugs and not just to mention one but countless drugs and you didnt think of telling me once?" He didnt reply. "Let me tell you one thing... I will not associate myself with a drug addict"
"Im sorr-"
Jai was interrupted by Michael.
"Hate to break up this show but Jai we need that money and we need it now"
"I dont have the money" Jai admitted.
The two men let out a sly cackle once again.
"I'll give you a deal... One month. You have exactly one month to get me that money otherwise... well... do I even have to explain the consequences?" He tested.
Michael then leaned over to whisper in Jais ear but loud enough for me to hear.
"Remember Jai, choose your decisions wisely because the may just affect the people around you". He said cockily while giving me a quick glance that made my body shudder with fear.
He took small steps back standing next to the other man who I dont know the name of.
"One month" He repeated before walking away with the other man following closely behind.
I slammed the door shut, turning around to face Jai who was looking every where apart from my gaze.
I crossed my arms over my chest.
"What the fuck was that Jai? I mean drugs? Are you serious?" I said with rage.
"Riley calm down" He started.
"Calm down?" I laughed. "Oh i'll be calm, you just owe a shit load of money and probably cant even afford to pay it back in a month but oh lets all be fine like we have no worries in this world at all" I said with sarcasm laced in my voice.
"You're over reacting" He said.
"Over reacting? Ok jai lets just see what happens when you are in so much debt and you cant pay the money back so you have to live on the streets and probably die but nope im over reacting"
"I SAID I'LL BE FINE OKAY!" He shouted. "NOW LEAVE ME ALONE AND STOP INTERFERING WITH MY LIFE I FUCKING WARNED YOU NOW STAY AWAY FROM ME"
"FINE" I replied with a huff as he slammed the door making the walls shake slightly.
I sighed. All this ever seems to be is going in circles with Jai... but why do I want to help him so god damn much?
