"Abnegation." The dauntless woman spoke. Her pierced and inked skin body turn toward the table with the computer. I sit up in the chair breathing heavily my heartbeat going crazy. The feeling on my arm is numb from where the dog bit me. My father will be pleased.

"That's it?" I sighed, I trying to hide the frown on my face but there was no concealing it.

"What more do you want?" Her eyes cut down to me as her fingers rapidly type on the computer. Can I honestly trust this chick? There's no way she could talk to my father. She is from Dauntless. 3 out of 10 chances are he could run across her and ask but how would he know she was my tester?

"Its a safe room. Feel free to talk only I can hear you." Her eyes go back to the computer.

"To get out of this faction. That's what I want." I mumbled standing up out of the chair.

"Well, that's why we have the choosing ceremony. But my question is why. Most people are happy with their results. You my dear, are not." She stops typing and studies my face.

"I just want out." I breath out. Feeling a weight lifted off my shoulders. Not only does this dauntless woman know but my friend Tobias knows. Tobias and I both want out of this faction.

The she stares at me for a few seconds then stand up walking over to me. Her hand hesitates but lifts my hand up. I don't move in fact I am in shock that she is doing this. Can she do this? Her finger tips gripped my gray dress sleeve pushing it up along my elbow revealing my blue and purple marks on my arms. The woman then pulls the sleeve down taking both my hands into her.

"Sometimes you need to take a risk. Take chances when they are in front of you. The choosing ceremony, pick what you want not what your test say. You have to live with the choice not others." Her face was full of sorrow. I nod my head in response then shuffle towards the door.

"Daniella." The woman calls for me but I don't turn around.

"Take the risk. For your sake." I walk out the door and stumbled toward the cafeteria. I wipe my face as I let a few tears come down my face.

It's suppose to sound like home, but it doesn't. The result I got is what I need to get to make my father pleased. If I don't, I will pay. As you know the factions. Abnegation is mine. It's been in the family ever since. It's been in my friends Tobias's family. Tobias's life is like mine. We both have a father that beats us and no mother. My father is on the Council of abnegation along with Tobias father, they get along very well. I figured as much since the two have a lot in common. Tobias and I have a lot in common as well, that's how we became friends when we were younger. His mother died young, my mother, well I don't know what happened to her. My father said she died when I was 6 but I'm not completely sure. They never recovered body, there was no ceremony or casket. But I did attend to Tobias mother's funeral. She was quite beautiful before and after life. Her white pearls and gray dress matched the color of her flawless skin. Tobias never cried. Because it would show selfishness. In abnegation you must be selflessness.

I walk into the cafeteria looking around the room. Factions sorted out to the different tables as I walk over to my faction. I see Tobias sitting down by himself. His hands balled up into a fist on top of the table. The frown on his face and a crease on his forehead shows that he has been thinking. I wonder what he got on his test. I sit in front of him as my hands lay on top of his. He doesn't look up or acknowledge my presence. His hands loosen up and my thumbs rub circles into his palms. This is how I calm him down.

"Abnegation." His muscles relaxed. So that was what he got.

"Abnegation." I sighed. His eyes darted toward mine. He knew that if we stayed we are both in trouble or dead. Just then a erudite woman walked into the cafeteria holding her hand up. Erudite and abnegation is quiet.

"Quiet!" She shouts to the dauntless, candor and amity factions. It then becomes silent.

"The aptitude tests are now finished. Remember that you are not permitted to discuss your results with anyone, not even your friends or family. The choosing ceremony will be tomorrow at the Hub. Plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before it begins. You are dismissed." To late for us to discuss. We didn't care.

Everyone rushed out of the building as our faction waits. We normally would take the stair instead of the elevator the go straight to the school. But I have other plans.

"Come on. Lets go." I grab onto Tobias's hand dragging him through an exit door toward an alley.

We run to the end of the alley and into an empty street. Leaping over a sink hole into the pavement. Tobias takes off his abnegation jacket letting it fall off his shoulders as we pretend to be airplanes flying through the wind. Its caused me to giggle as Tobias smiled. He then let go of his jacket watching it fly into the wind. It's as if we were faster than things moving in the city. Fast as like the train for dauntless and transportation our goods. We kept running til we couldn't run no further. We ended up into the factionless area where our common places would be held abnegation sector, erudite headquarters and the candor headquarters. Factionless are people not accepted to a faction at all. We walk on the sidewalk passing the roads. Tobias stops and looks spaced out then takes off running.

"Tobias!" I called out. I sprint after him but couldn't find where he went too. I turned corners called after him but no one answered. I was alone in a empty alley.

"Where did you go?" I whispered to myself.
