"So that's it?" I told him everything. I lay against his bare chest.
"Yes."
"So Four's real name is Tobias. Your real name is Daniella? Your father's used to abuse you both. I remember you told me something about that and sneaking off to his house so you could sleep and don't have to deal with the nightmares. Fours father used to beat him regularly which is Marcus Eaton. I read about his mother dying from childbirth, I suppose." I shook my head.
"They lied, the abnegation council."
"To keep her disappearance a secret?"
"Yes." I yawned.
"So she's factionless. And she calls herself a leader of them?" He scoffs.
"She already knew about dauntless and erudite working together. That was the point of meeting with Four. I told them about divergents. Not exactly what they are other then getting rid of them. "
"Ok good."
"We though it was Marcus. Even though four is trained to kill, defend himself and face his fears. He hasn't passed the fear of his father yet. I couldn't do it either. That's why I went with him. I thought it was his father we both did and I knew that he needed backup just in case Marcus tried to do anything." It was silent in the room.
"You have to understand some of this information I'm telling you cannot go around. It has to stay between the three of us. Technically between you and me. I told him I wouldn't say anything about it. You can say you got it from Jeanine." Eric takes my hand turning it over looking at the bruises on my wrist.
"Did he do this?" He sits up instantly looking at me. His voice held rage and pain. I sit up next to him.
"It was an accide--." Eric interrupts me.
"Accident my ass. You have to physically wrap your hand over a wrist and squeeze tight in order to form fingerprint bruises." I look down at my blue and purple wrist. It really isn't that bad.
"He only did this because I told him I was telling you everything. This is why we can't have this information going around. Because then he will know I told you." I rub my hand up his back.
"Ok. I won't say anything unless its to you and him. I won't risk you getting hurt." He takes my hand and gently kisses my wrist. Causing me to smile lightly.
"We have to get ready for the council meeting today." He sighs getting up walking into the bathroom. I stand and go to the dresser pulling out a red loose tank top and black leggings. Eric comes out of the bathroom after I slipped on my shirt. We both walk down the tunnels to the conference room. Max was there early.
"Morning Eric, Jade. We will start the meeting in a bit. Please, take a seat.," let's sit down at the seats as everyone gathers into the conference room. There is one single seat empty. Four. I wonder what happened to him. I know he has a lot on his mind seeing that his dead mother is actually alive. I zone out of the meeting. If Fours mother is alive, is my mother alive? It has me questioning up to the point where Four walks in the conference room. He looked like a mess.
"Nice of you to join us, that this meeting interrupt your sleep? As I was saying, today I would like to hear your thoughts about how to improve dauntless. The vision you have for our faction is the coming years, I'll be meeting with you in groups by age, the oldest first. The rest of you, think of something good to say."
Max stands up and take the three older dauntless members. Eric sat next to me staring down at four. Please don't say anything bad. Please don't say anything bad.
"Do my eyes deceive me, or are you really late because you were getting a tattoo?" Eric clicks the pen in his hands. Dammit.
"Lost track of time, a lot of metal appears to have attached itself to your face recently. You may want to get that checked out." Four replies. No. Please. Stop this.
"Funny, wasn't sure someone with your background could ever develop a sense of humor. Your father doesn't seem like the type to allow it." My eyes dart straight to Eric as I hit him in the arm.
"You're crossing the line." I grit my teeth.
"I think I know who told you that." Four stares into my eyes, making me feel uncomfortable. I shift in my seat slightly as Eric looks at me.
"I was already fairly sure, but my suspicions were confirmed by credible source, yes. You aren't as good at keeping secrets as you think, Four."
"It doesn't depend on secrets honestly. It depends on the people you trust to keep the secrets." Four death glares at me as I sink into my seat.
"It wasn't even her. It was someone much higher level than her." Eric looks at me. I know he's trying to help, but it really isn't helping. For just keeps getting better and better. Soon max comes for us three. They follow him back to his office.
