Lexi's POV;
I twisted the flowers in my hand as Ryan led us towards where mum and dad were buried. He had my right hand in a tight grip and tucked me into his side; as if he was afraid I would run off. But I guess earlier I had scared him so I kept my mouth shut as we walked.
Big stones were planted into the ground with writing carved into them. My eyes drifted over old, broken stone graves and over the newer, shinier looking graves. The grass was slightly wet, making my shoes wet as we trudged through.
Large oak trees were towering over us as we walked and I could hear birds chirping. Ryan made a fast turn causing me to stumble slightly as he walked down a small, rocky path.
I wanted to ask him where we were going but he pushed a large black gate open and proceeded to move forward. A few minutes later after walking past several more graves we stopped.
In front of me were two black stone graves. The dates and deaths of mum and dad were carved into the sleek stone. There was even a small description under mums; a loving wife and an amazing mother. Forever in our hearts.
"Did- did you write that?" My breathe caught in my throat so it came out barely above a whisper.
His free hand rose to the back of his neck as he rubbed it before nodding. His cheeks were slightly pink and I wondered if he was blushing. Rushing forward I wrapped my arms around his waist,
"Thank you"
I pulled back a few seconds later and stared at the flowers in my hand. I had gotten some white lilies and pink roses. I crouched down onto my feet and placed them over mums grave. My eyes flickered to dads grave for a second before I diverted my attention elsewhere.
I heard his footsteps before he placed a hand on my shoulder. I stared down at the ground; the mud was slightly damp and small patches of grass surrounded the grave. This was the place where mum was. She was in a box underground where she had been for so many years. I wondered if dad had ever come to visit her.
Was she mad that I hadn't visited her? Granted I didn't know where she was buried, but still.
"Do you want to say anything?" Ryan asked tugging me away from my thoughts.
Glancing up at him I gently shook my head. I didn't know what to say. What was I even supposed to say? Would she even hear me? Feeling slightly overwhelmed with all these feelings and questions I muttered a small I love you before walking back the way we came.
Ryan caught up quickly pulling me to his side as we walked. He linked our fingers together, placing a kiss to my forehead before leading me back out of the cemetery. My brows furrowed as he led us down a different path from before,
"Where are we going?" My confusion seeped into my voice as we walked further into the secluded area following the trail.
Large trees towered over us and I could faintly hear birds chirping somewhere in the distance.
"I had someone bring a car for us, quicker to get home with" he muttered as he led us over to a shiny black car I had only just noticed.
I had a feeling he had bought a car so I couldn't repeat earlier's accident but kept my mouth shut. He opened the left door of the car watching me climb in before buckling my seatbelt and closing the door. The seats were cold and made of leather, there was a cup holder and some sort of GPS device in the car. Ryan climbed in a few seconds later and started up the car.
Silence radiated in the air as he drove us back to the pack house. Once the car had reached sight of other life he had securely wrapped his hand around mine whilst his other hand was on the steering wheel.
Trees, people and houses blurred past us as he drove, occasionally stroking his thumb across my hand. Pulling into the car park a few minutes later I snagged my hand free and reached for the door handle only to hear a click.
"Why did you lock it?" I asked turning to face him.
"I want to talk" he stated reaching over to take my hand in his.
"If it's about not looking where I was going I'm sorry and won't do-"
"It's not about that" he cut me off.
"Then what?"
"I wanted to make sure you're okay, after everything that happened today"
"I'm fine" my voice wavered a little as I spoke.
"Baby you know you can tell me anything" he persisted leaning in closer as he spoke.
"I know, shouldn't we be getting back inside n-now?" Ryan had leant in so our lips were barely millimetres apart. The air around us seemed to heat up and I felt flustered.
"We'll go in right after this"
Before I could ask what this was his lips pressed roughly against mine. Butterflies erupted in my tummy as cupped my face in one hand, his other hand gently stroking my hair. His tongue ran along my lips, trying to pry them open. Smiling against his lips I pulled back, giving him a quick peck.
"I'll get you back for that" he groaned causing me to giggle as he unlocked the door.
Opening the door I stepped out, watching as Ryan locked the door before slipping his arm around my waist. A small yawn slipped past my lips as we walked back towards the house.
"I'll get us some lunch and then you can take a nap. Sound good?" Nodding my head in reply I set about helping Ryan as we made some ham sandwiches.
He took the plate of sandwiches from my hand as we walked up to our room, insisting that I shouldn't have to carry them. Within a few minutes we were seated on our bed watching the Simpsons as we ate lunch.
Butterflies swarmed in my stomach as Ryan gently ran his thumb over my hand, a small smile etched on his handsome face.
I really was lucky. All within the space of a year or so I was free from pain, free from my father and given a loving new family. Linda would never replace mum but it was nice to have another mum.
A yawn slipped from my lips as my thoughts drifted off to the ceremony. I was scared but then a small part of me was excited. This officially meant I was family. That I was one of them.
"Baby go to sleep" Ryan murmured into my ear softly.
"Okay, I love you" I mumbled feeling my body slowly slump back into the mattress.
"I love you too baby girl" I heard Ryan reply giving me a small kiss on my forehead before I slipped into a nice sleep.
