CHAPTER SIX

(Zia’s POV)

The rest of the week passed and nothing much happened. After the sleepover Laynie would hang-out with me, introducing me to Sabine, a shy red-brown hair and grey-eyed beauty. Sabine was interesting to say the least. She was very shy, always hiding her face under her books, her gorgeous grey eyes hidden in her glasses and her long curly hair tied to a ponytail. Every day when I see her at class or at lunch she would hold different books, ranging from fictions of Rick Riordan to the more serious diary of Anne Frank, even around me she would only speak a few words, but then we clicked one day at the library.

FLASHBACK

“Ugh! This is pointless.” I sigh in defeat. After spending my free periods in the library I gave up on trying to learn Physics. I put my pen down, rubbing my eyes off of the tiredness. My brain starts to hurt as well, ‘I need coffee’, I thought since it’s the only thing that calms me when I’m stressed.

“H-hey there Zia.” I heard someone whisper from behind me. I turn around and I saw Sabine standing there, a book in her hand, probably borrowing it for tonight.

“Hey there, Sabine.”

“So w-what are you doing here?” she asks me, taking a peek at the cluttered desk I’m occupying.

“Well I am racking my brains out trying to understand Physics, and so far I only managed to give myself a bit of a headache.” I said in a sad tone. “How about you?”, I asked.

“Borrowing a book for tonight”, she said pointing at the books in her hand, “I usually read a book before I go to sleep.”

“Well in that case you must read fast because that is one big book.” The book in her hand was very thick, maybe more than 700 pages, and she finishes that before she goes to sleep?

She giggles at what I said. “They say that, but I guess that books just really interest me. What are you studying anyways, maybe I can help?” she offered.

I look at her with an appreciative look and said “I’d like that”

We spent a few more minutes in the library before I finally understood. Turns out Sabine’s very smart, getting straight A’s and is in the Dean’s list. After that we just hit of, Sabine was no longer shy around me and turns out to be a loud and funny person under her shy persona. After that Laynie, Sabine, and I would hang-out after school in either of our houses, usually watching a movie and doing some homework, and I would always complain, cracking up the two girls.

Seb has not spoken to me since the incident except for the occasional “Hey” and “Hi” he would throw my way, which was totally fine with me, sometimes Beck would even say hi to me and walk me to class which spread like wildfire in the rumour mill. Honestly it’s like people have no lives here! And besides, since Seb won’t talk to me, Beck has kind of been the one who’d make the guys back-off, sometimes sitting on our table to make sure that no jerk would come near me. I honestly like Beck in a brotherly kind of way, which kind of pisses me of when he has different girls every day around his arms, well he kind of stopped last Thursday. I’m not jealous or anything, it’s just that I know that he can do so much better than them, one time I swear I saw him sneaking a glance at Sabine’s way, of course she wouldn’t notice it since she’s always focused on reading, and I just wonder what’s up with that . Melissa would still give me her icy glares but doesn’t do anything else since I’m not even a threat to her; well at least everything’s peaceful.

It’s a Thursday today, a whole week of peace and quiet as done me good. I made new friends, yes including Beck, and I’m happy with everything’s that been happening so far. Since Laynie and Sabine have different classes from Beck and I, we were trekking along together. The occasional hey’s would be thrown at Beck by his team mates, and the occasional winks and smiles thrown at me by the same people, I swear they look like retards.
