CHAPTER SEVEN

(Zia’s POV)

The day itself Beck asked Sabine to go out with him, any girl would’ve automatically said yes, well let’s just say that Sabine isn’t an ordinary girl. Let me play a recap…

We were sitting at our usual lunch table, Beck was fidgeting endlessly beside me, and the other two girls were oblivious to what Beck was doing.

“Will you stop that?” I hissed.

“Sorry. Can’t help it if I’m nervous” He murmured back.

“The famous Dustin Beckford is nervous? Huh, never thought I’d see the day I’d put those words together.” I teased which earned me a scowl. He then started fidgeting again which kind of earned him a whack in the head. Sabine and Laynie looked at us with confusion, and Beck glares at me rubbing the back of his head.

He then looks at Sabine and says “Hey-uh- Sabine can I talk to you for a sec?”

Sabine looks at me with worry and confusion but I nod for her to go with Beck. When the two left Laynie sat beside me and said “Alright spill, what’s going on?”

“Beck’s gonna ask Sabine out for next Friday night.”

As the words left my mouth Laynie looks at me mouth opened and eyes bright. “You’re shitting me?”

“No, I’m dead serious. He even asked me if Sabine’s single.”

Laynie laughs at what I said but it dies down when we see Beck running with an unconscious Sabine in his arms. Being the concerned friends we were we ditched our food and ran after them. When we reached the clinic Beck had already laid Sabine down on the bed, his head on covered by his hands.

So here we are now in the clinic, patiently waiting for Sabine to wake up.

“So did she say yes?” I asked.

Beck looks up, running his hands on his hair and says “She fainted before she even answered.”

“Well that’s Sabine for you.” Laynie said a flash of worry evident on Beck’s face. “Don’t worry Beck she’s just not used to those kinds of things.”

Nurse Janet comes in and asks “Has she woken up yet?”

Beck shakes his head and Nurse Janet sighs. “Well we can only have two people with her at a time. So who’s staying?”

“I’ll stay.” The three of said at the same time, we all look at each other.

“No offense Beck, but I think that it’s best if Sabine doesn’t see you when she wakes up. She might lose consciousness again.” Laynie said and Beck nods, understanding what she was saying.

He stands up and says, looking directly at me, “Call me when she’s ready.”

I simply nod and Beck exits the room. Nurse Janet writes the three of us excuse slips, and excuses herself to attend to the other students. We take our seats and patiently wait for her to wake up. Unfortunately patience is not one of Laynie’s best attributes and five minutes in she was already tapping her foot, making unnecessary noise. Fifteen minutes in and Sabine finally opens her eyes. We quickly rush to her side bombarding her with questions like “Are you okay?”, “How can you faint when someone asks you out?”, “Do you need anything?”, but she ignored our questions and asks a question of her own. “Where am I?”

“You’re in the clinic Sab, you fainted.” I said, she looks at her surroundings and recognizes it and quickly looks at Laynie, sending her a known look.
