CHAPTER 2

Not long, Laynie came back, sitting on the side Seb used to occupy. She looked at me with a cheeky expression, her eyes looking at me saying ‘Spill the beans; I wanna know what just happened’. What’s the big deal? I mean, Seb just talked to me, it’s not like we did something wrong. I raised my eyebrow at her, clearly missing the mark that there’s something up.

“Okay what just happened?” she asked me.

“I have no idea what you mean.” I said, looking at her confused, my cheeks a bit red thinking about that kiss. It was just a kiss on the cheek, damn it, why am I so worked up?

“You gotta stop it Zia, he probably does that to anyone he meets.” My conscience said. “Okay Zia, deep breaths. You probably won’t see him again. Chances are that it’ll be one to the number of people in this town.” And with that thought, I relaxed. The chances are minimal, so there’s no need to worry about it now.

“What I mean is why was that idiot talking to you?” she said. I shrugged at what she said, feeling a bit uncomfortable with our conversation.

“Piece of advice my friend, stick with me and avoid that idiot of a brother of mine.” She said, winking at me. My eyes widened when she said he was her brother. “He’s your brother?” I blurted out.

She simply nodded and said “Unfortunately, yes. Listen not to be harsh but I just don’t want you to get hurt. He’s a lot to handle, and that’s coming from me. He has girls swooning over him and most want to be friends with me because they wanna get close to him.”

“I wouldn’t do that.” I said, reassuring her. “And besides I really don’t go for the arrogant and cocky ones.”

She smiled at me, before getting the take out, and giving it to me. I give her the money to pay but she says “Shack says it’s on the house.”

“Well then tell Shack I said thanks.”

“Will do.” She said and I walk away. “Hey!” she called out to me while she ran to where I was.

“Hey did I forget something?”

“Well since we are friends, I expect you to be ready by 7:30.”

I smiled at her. “Do you even know where I live?”

“Your house is right next to mine.” She said with a ‘duh’ tone. “Oh” I said, feeling embarrassed that I don’t know my own neighbour.

“7:30, alright?”

I nodded and waved goodbye to my new friend.

My mom and I ate at the backyard, the stars and the moon shining so brightly, the wind giving a cool breeze, and the warm glow of the lamps were simply enchanting. Who would’ve known that there’s still a place in this world of chaos that can be so… serene? “So what’s up?” she asked me, trying to make conversation.

And that’s the cool thing about my mom. She’s so easy to talk to, laid back, and a good listener. I told her about meeting Laynie, the neighbour’s daughter. “Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you”, she said. I didn’t mention the Seb incident to her, fearing that she’ll fuss about the bimbo and the arrogant jerk. Woah, I gotta stop with the nicknames. They are still people after all, well I’m not so sure about the bimbo though (a/n: kidding on this part). I also told her about Laynie offering to take me to school.

“Well it’s good that you have a friend already. You might feel a bit out of place when you go to a school as a new student.” She said. “True that!”

Mom made it a point that I was in bed before 11 since I had to leave at 7:30 tomorrow, and now here I am, lying awake. The lights are already out and I couldn’t hear any noise from outside meaning my mom must be asleep as well. Seeing that sleep won’t evade me any time soon, I got up, got my guitar out of its case, and went to the balcony, turning on the orbs placed on the pillars. Playing with some random chords relaxed me a bit, until I settled for a song that I composed a few years back.

Days like this I wish that you were still here

Rememb’ring the summer spent so near to me

Still feel you touch that linger

The words you said in whispers

Standing all alone I realize

That it’s no more, it’s no more

I can’t help but feel like fool

For letting myself fall in love with you

And I hate that you can just steal my heart away

And I hate that you promised me a someday

And now I’m standing here all alone

Without you, without you

‘Cause now I realize it was a mistake to even love you

I was about to go to the second verse when someone asked “Can’t sleep as well?”

I looke in front of me, not realizing that i had an audience. I froze when i realize who it was.

"Seb."

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Yay! This is my first Author's Note of the story. I just want to say thank you for reading. I hope that you will stick 'til the end. There are still two more characters that I'll be introducing, one of them for a LOVE TRIANGLE (ho ho ho) and one for a love interest (hmm... I wonder whose?)

Apologies if it's short, I'll make chapter 3 longer.

Stay tuned! I might post in two days :)
