CHAPTER FIVE
(Zia’s POV)
The rest of day passed by and thankfully nothing out of the ordinary happened after the almost kiss. Laynie would chatter about how the school works, basically the school is divided into groups of your forte: there would be the athletes and the cheerleaders, the bookworms and the braniacs, the ‘musically talented’ and theatre, and the others-where I am labelled. Seb would come to my room after every class but he would keep his distance from me, letting me walk behind for me to follow him, no conversation was made and the silence was a bit maddening. I mean it was just an accident, right?
The bell rang signalling the students that we were finally free. Laynie told me that she couldn’t take me home since she has a make-up quiz after classes and she would probably stay a bit later. I told her that it was fine and that I can simply walk home, she was hesitant at first but she agreed.
I took out my phone to see if my mom left any messages for me, and sure enough there was one.
Might get home a bit late, the boss insist that we had a welcoming dinner. You okay home alone? Cause’ I can tell them that I can reschedule.
-Mom
I quickly replied saying:
It’s okay mom, and no don’t resched with them. I can probably cook something up or just order pizza…whatever my mood’ll be when I get home. Enjoy tonight. Loves xx

So here I am now walking home- the sky was a bit grey but at least it wasn’t hot, there was a cool breeze causing the trees to sway a bit, a few cars would pass by, kids were riding their bikes home- and I feel so serene. I actually like it here, it’s more peaceful, a lot less noise and the people are kinder, well the people I’ve met so far. After a few minutes of walking I finally made it home and right on cue, as I open the door to the house, the rain starts pouring. I close the door quickly and went straight up my room, the urge to have a long shower and curling up to a good book seemingly increasing. I did so and I change into a black tank top, grey leggings and a maroon hoodie, and plopped myself in bed and started reading “The Fault in our Stars”.
By the time I’ve finished the book it was almost seven o’ clock, my stomach grumbled being the massive eater I am, and I take that as a sign that I needed to eat. Being the lazy bum I am I ordered pizza and twenty minutes later the pizza arrives with my large soda. I set myself up in the living room, eating at the same time watching “Transformers”. Before the movie began my phone started buzzing like mad bee and I struggled to move from my comfortable position in the couch.
“Hello?” I said, not bothering to look at who called.
“Hey Zi, it’s Laynie.”
“Oh, hey, wassup?”
“I was wondering if I could come over tonight? Mom and Dad are on date night and I don’t wanna be stuck with Seb all night.” She asked.
“Sure, why not? I got pizza for dinner if that’s alright with you. You can stay at my place if you like.”
“That’ll perfect. I’ll see you in a bit.” She said and disconnected the call.
I texted mom if it was okay if Laynie were to come over and she said it was fine as long as it was just Laynie. I raise my eyebrow at the message and wonder ‘who else would there be?”
A few minutes later, Laynie comes knocking at my door. Her red hair tied to a bun, her green eyes were covered by glasses, she was wearing a black hoodie, white tank top and denim shorts. She places her duffel bag on the ground and helps herself to a slice of pizza.
