It's been six years since they first met.

Camila and Lauren had grown such a close bond over these years that they knew each other from the inside and outside. They were soulmates and every night that become more clear to one another.

Their connection was so natural and genuine, it was almost impossible for Camila to explain what she felt for the girl. It was obvious they were more than friends, but neither of them had actually dared to bring up that conversation, they didn't feel like they need to.

It was obviously Lauren adored Camila, the way her eyes always sparkled when she reappeared again was endearing and it fluttered Camila's heart in every single way possible.

Camila was fully aware of this very odd situation, and she often daydreamed about how crazy everything was. She wanted to talk about it with someone, her best friend Dinah for example, but she didn't want to make a fool herself. She told Dinah about Lauren once, six years ago, but she laughed it off and told her to get a life because she was a dream, therefore not real.

After that Camila never made the effort to bring her up again, she didn't need to anyways. Lauren was hers, and she was Lauren's. That's all that mattered, no matter the situation.

So far the sixteen-year old girl had visited Lauren every day in her dreams, each time a different location. From the park, to her house, to the fair, everywhere. Over the years Camila had found out several things on how everything worked and why Lauren was chosen to appear in her dreams.

Where Lauren came from was a mystery, she always told Camila she was made to love her, and somewhere deep down that made sense. It all made sense when they were together, no matter what. Of course the brown-haired girl struggled with the fact that she only got to visit her soulmate in her dreams, but once they saw each other all of her problems were gone.

Only they mattered.

Right now Camila was sat in a chair in the back of homeroom, scrabbling a few poems about Lauren in her journal to kill some time. The day seemed endlessly long and it occured to Camila that time wasn't working in her favor today. Every minute felt like an hour, and the girl started to grow so impatient that even Dinah questioned her odd behavior. They've been best friends since Elementary school and they made a pinky promise to always tell each other their secrets. Camila only broke that promise once. She didn't want to tell her about her captivating friend with those tantelizing green eyes.

Her beautiful eyes were undeniably the most beautiful ones Camila had ever laid her eyes on. The kind of green that pushed its way through the piles of gritty snow to remind you that spring was coming. That colour of the forest after it rained. That green colour that brings hope and life no matter what happened. And looking into those eyes, Camila could see it. And Lauren knew she could. Her eyes were the glimmering color of emerald, sparkling in the light of the morning sun like a fresh sheen of morning dew. Camila could write several pages about her eyes only, but she decided she'd rather spend that time with the owner of those eyes herself.

Finally, the bell signalled the end of the day and Camila collected up her pink backpack from its position on the floor. She brisky flung the bag over her shoulder and didn't bother to wait for Dinah, making a beeline for the door, escaping the loud classroom and its students. And when it was evening, in the late hours, the girl got home from the choir she always attended every Wednesday, aching to go sleep and finally meet Lauren again. She had made such an impact on her life that Camila herself was barely able to explain what she felt, but this had been her way of living now for six years. She was used to it and honestly the brown-haired girl didn't know if she could live without it.

"Night, papa." Camila mumbled with her toothbrush in her mouth as she made her way back to the bathroom, her father was tucking in Sofi who couldn't sleep due to nightmares. She heard a laughter coming from Sofi's bedroom before Alejandro wished her a good night as well and went downstairs.

Since Lauren Camila never had trouble with sleeping, she fell asleep within five seconds, being ecstatic to meet her soulmate again.

And that's exactly what happened tonight, as usual.

Camila felt a new, unknown sting of pain forming in her head before she opened her eyes again but she shrugged it off quickly when she was met with the familiar white objects, it looked like she was at the beach again. That was probably one of her favorite places to be with Lauren.

Talking about the devil, there she was. The raven-haired girl with green eyes and a huge smile plastered on her face as she approached Camila with open arms, they always greeted each other with a hug.

One thing Camila pointed out in the first week they met was that if the objects took some time to gain their natural color, Lauren's eyes never did. They had their own color since the beginning even if the rest of her body didn't.

Camila gladly pulled her in as she enveloped her arms around her and she could feel her body starting to relax under Lauren's touch immediately.

The serenity the beauty brought with her gave Camila a sense of equanimity, she was at her safe place now.

"Hello again, hermosa." Lauren's raspy voice filled the silence, her Spanish accent was so sexy that Camila was stunned yet again.

"I missed you." Camila admitted after she pulled away from the hug, but their bodies remained close to each other.

Lauren smiled widely, "I didn't miss you," She said honestly. "You can only miss someone when you lost them, but you're still mine."

She reached out for Camila's hand and placed it on her beating heart. "This heart beats for you, because you're in it. You're never really gone."

Lauren had this way of using her words that left Camila speechless everytime and she felt her knees grow weaker with every second that passed by. "Let's sit down for a while," Camila suggested and the green-eyed girl nodded before they sat down on the warm sand, gazing at the horizon and waves who bumped into each other peacefully.

"I always enjoy it when we're at the beach, the sunset is gorgeous." Lauren said, her eyes roaming over the sea but her hands both placed next to her to keep her balance as she relaxed. Camila's hand was placed directly next to her and Lauren took great advantage of that. Slowly her fingers moved to Camila's hand until they were placed on top of hers, interlacing their fingers together.

The younger girl couldn't help but blush and she also couldn't wipe off the grin that was plastered on her face. "You aren't very subtle at showing your affection, you know that?" She spoke up after a while of comfortable silence.

Lauren raised her eyebrows and feigned she was offended, but the way her eyes sparkled betrayed that she found the teasing endearing.

They continued teasing and having small talk for a while, with innocent glances and kisses in between, Camila updated Lauren on her real life and told her about what Dinah had been going through with her ex Mitchell who cheated on her.

"Why doesn't she just give her a poly beatdown?" Lauren scrunched up her nose, using the words Camila always used. It was so cute that how more time they spent together, how both of them started to talk like the other one.

Camila shrugged as she let out a small chuckle, "She probably will, I'll let you know."

The faint breeze made everything even more relaxed then it already was, and at some point when Camila snuggled up to Lauren because she was a little cold, the green-eyed girl turned to her with a more serious face.

"Camz?" She asked quietly. Her leg was bouncing up and down and that was one of her many signs that showed how nervous she was. "We need to talk,"
