The doctor and Camila were looking at each other and the girl had to collect herself. She was really flattered by his comment but also a little taken back.
"Uhm, you mean.. wait huh? I don't think I understand." She stumbled over her words and felt her cheeks flushing red. Great, why did this have to happen now?
Giving Siope his medicins and a glass of water, the doctor nodded his head to the door, signaling whoever he meant was probably somewhere in this building. "I mean the boy who always wears a beanie. He's my brother. I'm Daniel by the way."
And that's when it hit Camila. She couldn't pretend like it didn't make her feel a little bit better, but she didn't know what to say. She barely even knew the boy. Why did Camila feel a tiny smile creeping on her lips? How did a stranger she only had eye-contact with have this kind of impact on her?
Camila bit her lip, she kind of wanted to ask the youngman in front her if he could introduce them to each other. She could use a conversation with a person that didn't include Siope or the whole situation around it. She loved her friend and best friend but she kind of needed a break from all the drama.
"You think you can introduce me to him?"
Daniel looked at the clock. "I think he went home since it's really late; but he spends a lot of his time here. Next time I see you, I'll introduce you."
Camila smiled politely and the doctor after he did some standard check-ups on Siope, while the girls waited in silence.
After spending some more time with just the three of them, his family visited as well. And after speaking with them, Dinah and Camila decided it was time to go home. Camila was exhausted. Even though the reason they were here was because of an awful incident, his family handled the stress - and nights spent worrying - very well. They were all so positive, being around them made the girls much more optimistic about the whole situation.
Siope's little brother was too young to understand and seemed unbothered by the fact that his brother had a white bandage wrapped around his head and looked terrible. It did however make the situation a bit lighter, his little brother kept saying "how funny he looked" in which everyone smiled... maybe a small smile, but a smile nonetheless.
Camila said her goodbyes to everyone and placed a small kiss on Siope's cheek (he had fallen asleep some time before that) and then made her way home.
Once home the girl threw her denim jacket in a corner of the hall. She was gonna pick that up in the next morning before her dad would literally throw a tantrum about it. She rolled her eyes at the thought of her father being that childish, but it was the truth.
The two of them became more and more distant over the last few months. Maybe it was because his job became more stressful as he got promoted. Maybe Camila was just sick of having to do everything at home. Sofie was too young to really help with the chores, besides she didn't want a child to have to worry about that. It's her father who should take charge of these things. It's unbelievable he put so much responsibility on a sixteen-year old.
"Camila?" She heard her father's voice coming from upstairs.
"Yeah?" She yelled back indifferently.
"I'm not going to be home for dinner, so you and Sofi have to make something for yourselvee." He said, walking down the stairs. Alejandro's gaze shot up to the jacket in the corner, and even though he narrowed his eyes he didn't say anything. For that Camila was thankful.
She purposely sighed as loud as she could. "This is the third time this week Dad.."
"I'm sorry that I'm trying to make some money so you can have a roof under your head." Alejandro said, with a hint of annoyance in his tone. As if he was really the victim here.
