From his bricked window styled with envy vines, he saw a flash of light emerge out of a vacant forest. Many thoughts went through his mind, and none he knew were answered. Glen's breathing momentum started to exhale faster and his heart jumped many beats.
The man stumbled back in fear. Even though he was miles away from that light, it still made him tremble from the possibilities.
"W-what was that?"
He murmured. The surprise in his voice can be picked up.
There was a feeling of dread, a premonition that something could happen, but what? The terrible being who summoned that force was still lurking in the forest and would eventually make its way to the kingdom. However, what if it was already here? What if it knew?
Glen pressed his wrinkled hand that was filled with calluses from the battlefield on his head. The pressure increased every time another question went through his mind.
The light felt familiar, there was a dark hatred harboring around the forest. The sounds of spirits crying and the sudden appearance of dark clouds gliding in the sky reminded the man of an incident that occurred hundreds of years ago. It was a war between the struggling victim and the opposing antagonist.
Glen was a wizard who hadn't aged since that incident because he ate a portion of the special demon's intestine. Although the thought disgusted him at first, he reluctantly gave in to the greed of youth and beauty.
There was no way he could have forgotten that day, the year of 5976 when earth shook from the powers omitted.
Glen tried to calm himself, but remembered the words of the man he ate. The words of the dead sovereign who ruled over Hell. Why was he recalling those words now?
"I-it couldn't be..."
He murmured.
"T-theres... j-just no way he can be alive!"
Glen was certain of it. Azrael Demitries Dean, he saw the man burn at the hands of the higher class and brutally slaughtered for redemption.
Suddenly, a light tap on his stone door was heard. At first, Glen couldn't hear the knock, but the second time shook him out of his reverie.
"W-who is it?" He called out.
"Sir, I have a message from the king."
The person from the other side replied. Glen quickly unlocked the chains securing the door and let the messenger enter his room. He was a scrawny man who seemed a little over 20. The guy had deep brown eyes that contrasted with Glen's bright blue eyes. His brunette hair was styled back and left a clean face to admire.
Glen felt jealous at this handsome man. He was also quite good looking himself, but lacked the tall nose and broad shoulders. He shook his head, this wasn't the time to compare himself to another. It was enough that he was superior in strength.
He knelt before the messenger with grace and placed one of his hands across his chest, causing a slight thump on his personally tailor robe. The robe had a unique design enchanted with a legendary alloy underneath.
The messenger patiently waited for the Glen. He reached towards a rectangular box sealed with a diminutive crown at the opening. The chest's fabric was carefully sewed by the kingdom's gifted; There was an abstract serpent unrolled on the sides of the box, embroidered with strings of golden silk.
The messenger carefully opened the box and pulled out a scroll. The scroll had the same patterns of a serpent on the back. He licked his dry lips before announcing the following,"
How are you doing my friend?
I have actually been meaning to visit you sometime, but the kingdom's affairs kept me busy for quite some time. I really apologize for this late visit and for not being here myself to tell you.As the royal majesty of Relic, I personally invite you to the talent show I will be sponsoring at Morosis Academy. I'm sure you know the school that you have been educated in? Do free your schedule and come join me for this show.
From the one,
His Highness"
Once the messenger finished perusing the scroll, Glen promptly thanked him for his hard work and gave him half a pound of silver. The currency in Relic was unusually different from other countries because they relied on mined stones rather than paper.
Glen felt annoyed at this sudden turn of events because he had other troubles to deal with, but refusing the majesty's request meant making an enemy out of Relic. With a grunt, Glen sauntered to a grand wardrobe across the window. He started to pick out suitable uniforms for the show and tossed the ones he liked on his spacious bed.
It was useless to pursue such an impossible consideration. Glen decided to push today's event out of his mind, partially because of his fear and the other was his ignorance in the matter.
"E-even if they come back, we will defeat them once more."
With the last thought, Glen left it at that.
