"Okay, you guys, it's time for him to get more sleep, its just now passing 9:30. Have they brought y'all your dinner yet or am I gonna have to yell at people? Dr. Mimi asked. "No, they haven't ma'am. I was about to go to the vending machine." Danny says. "Okay, I'll have your food up here in about thirty to forty minutes. I'm so sorry that they didn't bring you your food." she says. Then shuts the door.
"So, Dilly, do you want me to go get you something from the vending machine; while we wait for our food to get here." Danny asked. "Yes, Powerade and some Cheetos! Please babe!" I said smiling. "Okay beautiful. Nae, what about you?" He asked opening the door. "Get me some Jolly Ranchers and a Sprite please. And thank you, Danny." she says handing him some of her money. "Keep it Nae, it's on the house tonight, I'll be back." he says. "Don't be too long now." Nae says as he leaves the room.
Danny's POV
As I'm walking to the vending machine, I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna break it to him. It's going to be hard for me to tell him. So how am I going to word this without making him cry? I thought to myself. He loves his mom so much and she can't get a flight back to Florida until Wednesday. This is going to crush him. I wipe the tears away at the thought of Dilly crying. I'm gonna tell him.
I now stand in front of the vending machine. I get the money in and punched in the code for Cheetos. I repeated this step three more times. When I got the Powerade, Cheetos, Spirte, and Jolly Ranchers; I was about to turn around when I was struck in the back of the head.
Nae's POV
Where the fuck is this bitch with my Jolly Ranchers and Sprite? I thought to myself. "Hey, Dilly, I'm gonna see what's taking Danny so long. I'll be right back I promise." I say leaving him to get the rest he deserves. I turn the corner to head to the vending machines when I saw Danny's body lying on the ground. I run to his side.
"Danny! Are you okay?!? What happened?" I asked getting the nurse that was walking by to help me get him on his feet again. "I was getting y'alls snacks like y'all wanted; when I was knocked in the back of the head." he says placing the bag of ice on his head. "Thank you for the bag. Ms..." I started to say. "Ms. E, and you're welcome." she says walking away going back to her own business as she was before.
Dilly's POV
I was just laying in bed, trying so hard to go to sleep. When I hear someone scream, and then an alarm goes off, repeeating code RED.
Dr. Mimi comes running into my room, shutting the door behind her and locking it. "What's going on, Dr. Mimi?" I asked quietly. "Don't move. Someone is in the building and they're armed." she says grabbing the chair and putting it under the door handle. "Do you think it could be... Jase?" I say trying not to sob. "I don't know, Dilly, if it is. We need to call the cops if no one hasn't called them already." she says.
Nae's POV
We find the closest room to hide in. "When you thought this day couldn't get any worse." Danny says under his breathe. "Shut up, Dilly is probably by himself!" I say smacking his shoulder. "Don't get me thinking like that, Nae, you know how I am!" he says through his tighened throat.
"Well, let's not sit here then, let's go help Dilly!" I said. Danny and I some axes and knives in the janitor's closet that was next door to us. We take them, arming ourselves, against whoever was causing so much chaos in the hospital. We were crouch walking against the wall, when all of a sudden, we heard laughter.
Danny's POV
I know that laugh from anywhere. I thought to myself. It was Jase. "Jase is the reason the hospital is on lockdown." I whisper to Nae. "This is fucking nonsense, especially for me." Nae whispers back. "He needs to be stopped; where are the cops?" I asked. "What am I? Their dispatch?" she says slapping me.
"Ouch!" I say covering my mouth but it was too late. We hear Jase coming towards us. His foot steps were hidden by a loud bang, following with a heavy thud. Someone was shot! I thought.
I peek around the corner to see Jase's dead weight body lying on the ground in front of me. I look towards the end of the hallway; "Dilly!" I shout. Dilly dropped the pistol when his legs gave out on him. "Woah, are you okay?" I asked him. "Ye.. Yeah, I... I'm... Fi.. Fine." he says weakly. I grabbed his arms to help him up, they were ice cold. I lift one of his arms around my neck and picked him up by his legs. Carrying him back to the room, I asked him, "Are you sure, you're okay?"
"Yeah, I'm just peac-" Is all he says when his body goes completely limp. I didn't waste a second rushing him back into his room, Nae right behind me. Dr. Mimi was already there, when I placed his motionless body on the bed.
"What happened?" she asked as she went to work on him. "He shot Jase! He saved us. Then he just colasped. Can you bring him back please!" I said with rivers flowing from my eyes. "Danny come wait outside with me whi-" Danny interrupts me. "No! I'm not leaving his side, Nae! I... I love him!" I shouted leaving a silence between us.
