"We have 1 huge couch where you can sleep tight, grim rite..." Bob looked up at the other three, his positivity still abundant like always, despite the stressful situation that we were in.
"Nice Interpol reference, but that's not gonna cut it!" I hissed, nearly chucking the piece of crumbled "ideas" paper at his head. "We need a speech that will convince Hot-but-Asshole Mike that he doesn't need to change everything in this place for it to be good!"
"Guys, can we stop screaming in the middle of this Applebee's? That waitress keeps on giving us looks..." Nick pointed at the teenaged girl, scowling at the table we were sitting at.
"Nick's right," Alex spoke up. "This is supposed to be a fun night out. Just put everything on the back burner tonight."
"Ok, fine, I'll find my chill," I muttered, grabbing another mozzarella stick.
"This Mac and Cheese is delicious! Such a handcrafted meal," Bob swooned, blowing a kiss to the sky.
"Bob, you literally ordered that off the kids menu," Nick sighed.
I laughed a little too loud.
When we all were done and the waitress handed us the bill, that scowl still on her face, we walked out of the Applebee's, into the shopping plaza.
"Where should we head to first? Forever 21?" I suggested.
"That store gives me a headache, but I like making fun of the crappy clearance clothes, so ok," Alex chirped.
We proceeded to walk towards the glimmering, blinding store that was Forever 21.
As soon as we walked through the doors, a peppy, short girl approached us. "Hello! Welcome to Forever 21! Our overalls are 60% off today, but thats totally not because no one wanted them or anything..."
"Not a surprise," Alex whispered in my ear. I elbowed him in the stomach and continued to smile at the young employee. It was weird, she seemed even younger than us. Kids these days.
As soon as she walked away to go help another customer in the Men's section, Nick turned towards me, a huge grin on his face.
I sighed. "What do you want to buy?"
"The overalls!"
"W...why?" Bob looked concerned.
"We should wear them to work one day, to kind of...scare Michael! Into seeing the pride we have in our workplace!"
"He's already scared of us enough..." Alex mumbled, starting to walk away from us.
"No." I reached over and pulled on Alex's shirt sleeve. "I like the direction Nick is taking this."
Bob caught on. "Like at Field Day sophomore year! Remember we all bought those ridiculous yellow mullets and everyone was creeped out?"
"Wasn't that the day you challenged our pre-calc teacher to a karaoke war?" Alex wondered.
Bob chuckled. "I totally won, I sang Rock the Casbah the best."
"I think that's all we really need to win this war," I suddenly realized. "Spirit."
"You're right!" Nick nearly rejoiced. "Now I'm pumped, let's get those overalls!"
We ran over to the clearance section, Alex silently laughing at all of the awful clothes people have thrown in there, and grabbed four pairs of ripped overalls. They only cost $30, for all four of them.
The rest of the night was not focused on the battle, but more on fun, and spending money. I got two pairs of sneakers at Foot Locker, three Green Day and one Joy Division shirt at Hot Topic, and a Build-a-Bear. Yes, a Build-a-Bear. I'm not ashamed.
We were exhausted by 9:30, so we all decided to head home, to get ready for work, and the showdown, the next day.
