"Alright, here's what we've decided on..." Levy stated the plan to everyone, "Each company has their own squadron. Squadron A will go to the main battle field to fight in the front lines. There will be a chance that our main battle field is somewhere near the border line between the North and South kingdoms, so be ready. Squadron B will back them up. Squadron C will advance forward..." She continued. Everyone knew their job and what role they had to play in this war. My job was making sure everyone was alright, and if they needed more back-up, I would be there to help them. I am a wizard after all. And of Fairy Tail too, so abandoning my new friends is not an option.
"Time to pick Squadrons. Here goes..." Cana grabbed a set of cards from her purse, each having all of our faces on one side, and a blue back on the other. A map of both kingdoms was set on the dining table, tacks pinpointing each squadron's supposed locations. Cana took a deep breath in, closed her eyes, and exhaled, channeling her magic power through the cards. Then she threw them and the cards magically went their separate places. "Alright, it's done. Squadron A will be Alzack and Bisca Connell, Bickslow, Droy, Jet, Macao Conbolt, Max Alors, Evergreen and Elfman Strauss. You guys know what to do?" Everyone in Squadron A nodded.
"Ugh, why do I have to be stuck with this brute right here?" Evergreen huffed. She glared at Elfman. Elfman did the same.
"Be a man, Ever! A man never complains! MAN!" Elfman argued.
"I swear, if you say 'man' one more time..." Her fist was out and her glasses slid down her nose. She propped them back up, which resulted in a white glare showing. She was annoyed, I can tell. Better not make her mad, either...
"They're such a great couple, aren't they?" Mirajane whispered as she elbowed me. I giggled a little.
"No doubt."
"WE ARE NOT A COUPLE!" Both Elfman and Evergreen practically shouted that at the same time. It was cute. I bet Mirajane is working her little head off, thinking of ship names for them.
Everyone laughed and giggled.
"Moving on..." Cana changed the subject, "Squadron two will be Romeo Conbolt, Gajeel Redfox, Panther Lily, Lisanna Strauss, Freed Justine, Gildarts Clive, Laxus Dreyar, Master, and I. Squadron C-" Cana was cut off by my rude interruption, which I apologized for after.
"King Makarov will be participating?" I asked. They all gave me shocked faces, "W-What? Did I say something wrong? I just never met a king who would fight on the front lines before...ya know?" I gave them all a weary smile. They just laughed, but not in a rude way.
"We stick together, Lucy," Alzack started.
"We always fight together. That's what it is to be a Fairy Tail member," Bisca continued. Both of them smiled. I did too.
"Yes, I admit, we are a very strange kingdom. But I think you will understand as time goes by. After all, I would never abandon my children," King Makarov grinned a toothy grin and it made me giggle. It may be war time, but fussing over things won't help. We know our jobs. It's time to fulfill them.
"So, the rest of you guys that I haven't mentioned yet are part of Squadron C. That would be Lucy Heartfilia, Gray Fullbuster, Juvia Lockser, Happy, Wendy Marvell, Carla, Erza Scarlet, Mirajane Strauss, and Levy McGarden. Everyone ready?" Cana held a bottle of booze out in front of her and popped the cap off. As the cheers got louder, she took a giant sip from the bottle, "Then let's show them what Fairy Tail is made of!"
