I arrive at Liam's house at lunch time. I hoped Liam would be home by now. He said he was going to be at his house at around noon. I looked around and saw that his mother was home. The entire place was peaceful and relaxing. All around birds were chirping in the woods that are near Liam's house. The red barn on the far right of the house looks abandoned, but still standing in one peace.
I get out of my car and walk on the pavement leading towards the house.
"Hello Hailey. Come on in." Liam's mom says once she opens up the door. "Liam told me he was running a little late and to tell you he'll be here shortly if you arrived before he did."
She leads me towards the family room and offers me a drink.
"I'll take a glass of water. Thanks." I say and sit down on the coach.
When she comes with my glass of water I ask her if I could talk with her for a while before Liam comes.
"What do you want to talk about?" She asks and sits across from me.
"I'm just worried about Adam." I admit to her.
"Adam? Did he do something to you?" She asks, but not in a worried way. Her face was calm. As if she didn't want to show any signs that she might be concerned.
"No, he didn't do anything to me. Have you seen him after he came back from the party with Liam?"
"It wasn't a deep cut. He'll be fine. Sorry it happened at your friend's birthday, but he's fine."
"I'm glad to hear it." I smile.
"Was that all Hailey?"
"Um...no actually. My concern isn't just from last night."
"What are you saying?"
I take a deep breath and swallow hard. She looked so approachable before, but now she's getting a little scary. He tone went from nice and gentle to no feeling to a little angry in a way. However, I couldn't stop now.
"I'm just worried in general. I don't mean to pry into your family business or anything..." I say before she cuts me off.
"Then don't. Adam is fine Hailey. It's Liam you should be worried about."
"Liam?"
"Carter called me yesterday and explained everything that happened at the party. I agree with him that Liam should take time to care for himself. All of this worry isn't good for a teenage boy."
"I agree you with you...it's just maybe if Liam knew what was bothering Adam he wouldn't have to worry as much."
"Adam is fine Hailey. Liam is just making a big deal out of nothing." She says trying to calm her voice down a little bit. What was her deal? Why isn't she worried about Adam?
"Do you know what your son has been doing?" I say as my voice starts to get higher.
"I know my son. Both of my sons Hailey and I don't appreciate you getting into my family's personal life. You just started hanging out with Liam and I get that. However, it doesn't make it right for you to ask questions that don't concern you."
"Why can't you just talk to Liam then? You don't have to say anything to me, but I know you know something. You're his mother and Liam has the right to know what's going on with his little brother."
"If you can't leave this alone I must ask you to leave. You can meet up with Liam somewhere else. Perhaps your home and then Liam can interrogate your parents."
"Just talk to Liam. Please." I say politely.
"I talk to Liam. He knows what I know."
"Why are you in denial?" I ask standing up.
