Chapter 6: CRESSWELL MOMENT

Ok, I feel really stupid because I accidentally put my last chapter as chapter four. Again. I CAN NOT COUNT UGH! 

Two chapters in one day, wow. What am I doing. CRESSWELL IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN, I JUST CANT!  THEY ARE SO CUTE!!!

Cress POV

Cress didn't even look to see Cinder's reaction as they stepped inside, all she saw was him. Captain Carswell Thorne. She hid behind Cinder because she couldn't risk him seeing her so flustered.

She could still see him though and he looked great.

Cress was faintly aware of Kai gaping at Cinder, Wolf grinning at Scarlet, and Jaccin whispering something to Winter.

Her eyes always sought him though. He was cleanly shaven, his hair loose and ruffled, and he was wearing a full out tuxedo.

Cress was glad she was short for this one moment and she shrunk down behind Cinder, her heart hammering inside her chest, her stomach fluttering. She tried to brush it off but the memory of their last kiss refused to fade.

She could almost feel the heat going off Cinder's machinery. Probably Cinder's secret way of blushing, as she watched Wolf embrace Scarlet and she almost emerged from the shadows when she saw Iko squeal and hug Thorne. He smiled and they giggled a bit and Cress had to stop herself from jumping out and making the situation awkward. Her muscles tightened and her eyes widened. Her whole body froze. She so badly wanted to move, and do something, but she couldn't. 

But Thorne's eyes were distracted. He was glancing around as if he was looking for something. Or someone.

Oh stars, he was looking for her.

Cress took a step back and tottered. She wasn't even in high heels but she was off balance and she wanted to do nothing more than to leave the room. She had slowly stepped backward, her clammy hand on the door and she was about to leave when

Thorne. All she could think about was Thorne. Thorne, who might see her. Thorne who she loved... But did he love her. Was she just another one of his girls.

Everyone's conversations were muted in Cress's ears. She had to leave.

"Hey," Thorne was speaking. She held in her breath as the room silenced. "Where's Cress?"

Cinder paused and stepped towards Kai. "She was just here-"

Cress was now in full view of everyone. Her face turned pale and she was now aware of everyone staring at her.

The girls just looked confused, Kai was smiling kindly, Wolf's expression was hard but his eyes were warming as he clutched Scarlet. Thorne quickly let go of Iko and his eyes widened, almost as big as Cress's. Her face drastically changed from a pale white to a deep red.

There was silence expect for the swish of a dress as Cinder walked over to Kai. Cress felt exposed and helpless as she shriveled down.

"Cress," Thorne started, stepping forward. He cocked an eyebrow and a smirk was on his lips. "Wow."
