"Luna, we need to talk." Hylzarie said to me.
"To you, my name is Lunaria." I snapped back. No one needed to know what I saw yesterday night, especially not him. I'd had enough of him trying to push me around, now it was my turn.
"Fine, Lunaria, we need to talk." This time he stressed my name.
"I told you I'm not talking about it. It's nothing you need to worry about anyway." I started running away but he kept up with me.
I tried outrunning him, but he was nearly as fast as me. It must be a unicorn thing, being able to run faster. I mean, I easily outran the workhorse from last night.
Just thinking about him made my hooves want to run back right now, to where I saw him. I started heading in that direction, unaware that I was doing so. I knew the layout of the land by heart, or at least I used to before they started cutting down our trees.
Part of me wanted to hate the workhorse for helping the humans destroy our land. Another part of me knew that I couldn't hate the horse I saw last night.
"Luna, I'm worried that you'll get hurt."
"Well stop! I can take care of myself perfectly fine, like I've been doing for a long time!" He knew what had happened, why I was Lead Mare so young.
We stopped near the new edge. It was shorter and shorter every day. I could spot out the human camp in the deepening night.
I also saw something--no, someone. The workhorse from last night.
I needed to distract Hylzarie so that he wouldn't see him. I saw the horse move towards me, obviously not seeing Hylzarie with me. I didn't know what else to do, so I talked to him. Well, not out loud, through a mind link.
Stay there, I'm not alone, I said through the link.
He looked at me and his eyes got wider. He tapped his hooves on the ground, not knowing what he should do.
Meet me here tomorrow night if you want to talk, I said. He ran away but I still felt the link that I had put there, I knew it was still connected.
Wha- how are you doing this? He said.
Well obviously I'm a unicorn, even you could see that. I'll tell you more tomorrow, I promise. Meet me back here but stay hidden, I'll find you. I felt him fall silent, but the connection never fully faded. I thought that was weird, I'd have to ask the elders tomorrow morning. I hoped I hadn't scared him too much.
"Come on, Hylzarie, let's just go back." I pleaded.
"Not until you tell me what you were doing!"
"I was out for a run. Now can we go?" I walked away from him. I didn't hear him follow me but I kept walking.
I walked by myself all the way back to the sleeping grounds. I fell asleep quickly, wondering if I made the right choice by creating a mind link with the horse or not. I'd find out tomorrow night one way or another.
