There was once an infamous island in the land of Bern,
Elkwood--the name itself sounded stern.
Home of a golden crown sought by all,
The one who wears it will stand proud and tall.
But the crown was hidden inside a dismal lair,
Darkness clouded within, that even the boldest man did not fare.
But a maiden, bold and fiery
Tried to enter the lair that was dark and dreary.
This maiden was a kind soul,
A happy girl, adored by all.
She fought the darkness that clouded the lair,
And in the end, she did fare.
She wore the crown with pride,
Folks showered her with praises, of all kind.
She was enthralled by it all,
Drowned by power and fame's call.
Treated her fellows as mere beggars,
They don't fit her, she was all mighty and stellar.
Once day, she bumped into a filthy old lady,
She shooed her, saying she don't give alms to the needy.
The old lady just shook her head,
Her face was full with anger and dread.
"What happened to you child?
You used to be so gentle and kind.
Your life might be filled with gold and chimes,
Yet your soul is covered in grime.
I beg of you, take off that crown.
I swear it could only bring you down.'
'Who's covered in grime?' she asked.
'Look at yourself you foolish hag,
In tattered clothes and you hadn't bath,
And you dared tell me that?'
'Indeed you are one hopeless case,
A once pure soul lured and dazed
By worldly treasures, power and fame.
All these things just made you lame.
Child, the world you may have gained
But you lost your very soul in the end.
Take off that crown I beg of you.
Bring back the old, kind you.'
A/N :
A plea to all those who have strayed, those who were lured by worldly things and all. "Take off that crown I beg of you. Bring back the old, kind you."
