Play Me a Melody

I once met a musician,
on a road right across the sea.
He was a little lost with life
and the path where he should be.
On his shoulder hung a violin,
On his hand a piece of bread.
His instrument seemed broken,
But it's not what you would dread.
His eyes resembled an empty sky
On a night, when it's about to rain.
Void of sparkle, void of life,
Resembling life's dark terrain.
I approached him and said hello
Hoping I could lift his sunken soul.
I asked him to play me a melody,
To let his music play its call.
He refused, he said he cannot play.
His violin was broken and so was he.
I smiled and told him,
his violin he doesn't need.
Music is a way of life.
It's in every life form,
It's just waiting to be heard.
Hear it in the breezes,
the sea sings for its shore.
Hear it in the rhythm
of the wind during a storm.
Have you heard the tune
made by crickets
In a calm and silent eve?
The tempo of the rustles
Made by the swaying leaves?
Music is all around us.
Some pleasant to the ears.
Some are haunted melodies
Sang by those in tears.
Please play me a melody,
Play me the music of your fears.
Play the song of your agony
Play it to the skies,
For HE always hears.
Send your emptiness to the strings
Of your broken violin.
Play the tune of your sorrow,
The rhythm of your grief.
Play its agonizing tune
Until it gives you relief.
I just hope and pray,
That one day,
I'll be seeing you again
On this road across the sea.
But you're playing a different tune.
A music you're proud to play.
A tune that brings hope,
Or a melody that says,
"I am now free."
