Michael's P.O.V

I look down at my arms covered with indelible ink that litters them as I play my guitar, looking up at Luke I pull out the paper where I'd started writing the song on from when we went to Bournemouth and rip the pages out throwing them in the bin and begin working on a different song.

"I can still taste you, like it was yesterday" I strum a little pattern on my guitar just as Calum walks in "hey Michael what you working on?" He asks pulling the sleeves of his jumper down "a song" I reply simply as he comes and sits next to me "what do you have so far?" He asks leaning to look over my empty notebook. I play him the one line that I've come up with and then write it in my notebook with the chords underneath it "and I was thinking of following it with Making plans to rule the world, you were more than I deserved" I play the chords singing along "That's good but instead of having a C I think a D would sound better...do you mind?" He asks pointing to my guitar I hand it to him "so it would go like this" he clears his throat before singing " making plans to rule the world you were more than I deserved" I nod walking over to the sink and pouring two glasses of water for us. "I think I've got the next line" he adjust the guitar on his lap and begins to sing his voice filling the open plan kitchen."I see you running in the sand, long hair blowing in the wind.
Never thought that it would end"  he takes small sips from his water "that's really good" I nod scribbling it down in the notebook. Moments later John walks in with Sarah they both sit down on Calum's side and ask him to play what we've been working on "oh oh! I know what we can add" Sarah cheers after Calum's finished "Leaves fall from the tallest trees
Even mountains crumble into the sea
Holding on to memories
And I can't let go" she sings and writes it into my notebook the pencil scratching away "you don't want that to be E, you want it to be G" I tell her she gives me a confused look till I play the line "holding on to memories"." Sounds better right?" I ask them

"Sounds good feels good" Luke comments from where he was washing his breakfast plate despite it been almost 1 in the afternoon. I smile and chuckle at his comment. "I've been working on this chorus for a while and I think I've finally come up a as close to perfect as we're going to get version" I lift the guitar up into my hands before strumming and singing with all my emotions "I wanna get back to where we started to the summer night
You know, you know, you know, you know we got it right
Yeah I wanna get back to San Francisco, in the fire light
You know, you know, you know, you know we had it right"
I look at him John stands up and hugs me "Michael that was great how long have you been working on that?" He asks. "A few days" is shrug.
"That's really cool Michael, where you thinking of calling the song San Francisco" Calum pipes up I nod.
"If that's okay with the band then yeah"
I look over at John who's murmuring to himself. "Can I borrow the guitar Michael?" I hand it to him as he sits back down playing a few chords "now bear with me on this but how about"Remember that weekend when we got out of town?
Drove into infinity, I held you 'til you fell asleep"
"Yes!" I shout and then I wrote down the chorus and John's lyrics and then the ones I've just come up with "Without you, the smell of your perfume.Reminds me of when we were free, I swear that it's still haunting me"
"Fuck! That's deep" Calum laughs I lightly laugh."And then we can us Sarah's part as the bridge" he says as he writes down the bridge and chourus again.
We don't gotta say anything, don't gotta say anything
Don't say a word at all, don't say a word at all
We don't gotta say anything, don't gotta say anything
Don't say a word at all, don't say a word at all
I wanna get back to where we started to the summer night
You know, you know, you know, you know we got it right

I wanna get back to where we started to the summer night
You know, you know, you know, you know we got it right
Yeah wanna get back to San Francisco, in the fire light
You know, you know, you know, you know we had it right
"and then repeat the bridge again" John says. "Tomorrow we'll record that okay?" I nod placing the notebook on the kitchen worktop adding the final part, We don't gotta say anything, don't gotta say anything. Don't say a word at all, don't say a word at all.We don't gotta say anything, don't gotta say anything. Don't say a word at all, don't say a word at all
