As lay on my bed, music blasting yet again as I thought. I thought about the food fight during lunch. I thought about the campfire last night. I thought about a lot of things. A knock on the door interrupted me. I got up, bringing my headphones from my head to rest on my neck. I answered the door, and standing on the patio was Kai. She looked happy, surprisingly. "What's up?" I said. "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out for a while." she replied. "Um, sure, I mean, I guess." I stammered. I wasn't expecting to get, well, anywhere with Kai. " You should come to my cabin, I'm the only one in there." she suggested. I agreed and we walked to the Hades cabin. When we got there, I looked around, taking in the new surroundings. It was said that before our generation of campers, there had been eight very famous demigods: Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Jason Grace, Piper McLean, Leo Valdez, Frank Zhang, Hazel Levesque, and Nico di Angelo. These campers had saved the world from the earth mother herself, called Gaea. Nico di Angelo was the only son of Hades at the time he was in camp. There was a rumor that when he had lived in the cabin, it was decorated like a cheesy vampire movie, with a casket-shaped bed and vases of black roses. Obviously it had been redecorated within the last ten years. The walls were painted black, with bunk beds and a framed picture of Nico and Hazel. Supposedly they were brother and sister, but Hazel was the daughter of Hades' roman form, Pluto. Therefore, she stayed at the roman camp. Apart from the basic decor, the room only held a large stack of books and a couple Polaroids tacked to the wall. My eyes scanned over the room, at second glance seeing a dagger in the corner. It was silver, with a dark, blood red handle and beautiful carvings on the hilt. I moved closer to it, turning to Kai to ask if I could pick it up. I saw engraved words on the blade; Bellum est infernum. Infernum est mortem. Mors necesse est. After I set down the dagger, we sat down on the bottom bunk of one of the beds and looked around awkwardly. "D-Do you want to play monopoly?" Kai asked. "Sure!" I replied enthusiastically. She looked underneath the bed and pulled out the board game. We set it up and decided who would be banker, me. After playing for a while, she got too hot and took off her black hoodie. I noticed small scars on her arms before she quickly and expertly hid them. We continued playing like nothing had ever happened, and at the end of the game, which she won, we cleaned up. "I-I saw your scars and I just wanted to show you something." I said as I pulled up my hoodie sleeves, revealing my own. "I, um, wow. I thought I was the only one at camp." she stammered. We talked for a moment more before she pulled me into a hug, surprising me. I sat shocked for a moment, but then returned the hug. We pulled apart and she looked at her watch. It turned out that we had played until it was time for dinner. We walked to the dining pavilion, talking about bands, books, movies, and everything in between. When we got there, we grabbed plates and goblets said goodbye. Kai walked to the Hades table, smiling like I had never seen before. I walked the opposite direction, toward Chiron. I asked him if I could sit with Kai at her table, and he, seeing that I was finally making friends, allowed it. When I got to her table and sat down in front of her, she looked up and smiled. "Hey, this isn't your table." she exclaimed jokingly. "It is now!" I replied in the same manner. We both laughed and talked until it was time for the campfire, and carried on the conversation there. Seeing the flames die down and campers begin to go back to their cabins, we realized it was getting late. After a while longer, we finally said goodnight and went our separate ways.
