- Samantha POV -
I walked into the dorm and quickly slipped into the bathroom unseen by Kayla.
I took a deep breath and grabbed a towel. I couldn't believe I was going to go to the bonfire.
I felt compelled to go, something just told me it was a good idea.
I stepped into the shower, after turning the water on. I took a deep breath as I began to shower.
After my shower I stepped out into the cool air. I wrapped the towel around myself and looked in the mirror.
'Do I really want to do this?' I asked myself.
I smiled at myself in the mirror,
to reassure myself that it was a good idea.I blow dried my hair and brushed it out as well. I wondered whether to curl or straighten my dark brown hair. I straightened it, because it always looked better that way.
I stood up and walked outside of the room praying she didn't see me. I walked over to my closet and looked for an outfit.
"Hey." Kayla said causing me to jump.
"Hi!" I said quickly turning around holding the towel tightly to me.
"You're all showered, and hair done.. where are you going?" She asked sitting on her bed, scrolling on her phone.
"Uh.." I said hoping she would catch on, and she did.
"The bonfire?" Kayla said laughing as she still looked at her phone. She obvious thought I was joking when I said I was going.
When I stayed silent she realized I was serious, "Wait.. you were serious?!" She said dumfounded.
I didn't have the courage to speak so I just nodded.
"You're going to my ex's bonfire?!" She yelled infuriated.
"Well no.. I mean it's all of delta Psi's Fire.." I said looking down at the wooden floor.
"I can't believe you. I was going to introduce you to my friends and everything! I can't believe you're blowing me off for some stupid fire!" She said and shook her head. She just calmly walked into the bathroom then slammed the door.
She did have a point. I was blowing her off, but I feel like it was more than that. She's angry I will be hanging out with Louis? Is she jealous?
I stood there for a couple minutes not knowing what to do. I sighed and then looked through my clothes for an outfit.
I didn't know what to wear and I would have loved to have Kayla tell me what to wear, but that would just make things even worse.
I sighed and grabbed some lighter blue jeans. I slipped them on and looked for something to wear.
I imagined it would be warmer since it was the end of August. I found a cute tank top and put it on as well. I slipped my old shoes on and looked in the mirror.
I looked a little rugged, and tired. I was plain looking. Plain brown hair, plain brown eyes. Not as pretty as Kayla, no where near as pretty as her.
She was super model pretty. I felt insecure and I've only know her for about a day or two, I wonder how her friends felt. My eyes widened as I had a thought.
What if all the girls at this school are like that?
What if I'm the odd one out?
The plain looking one with the tired eyes.
I sighed and rubbed my face while I looked in the mirror.
Maybe should I wear.. makeup?
Kayla had a lot on the bathroom and her makeup always looked so good.
Maybe when she came out of there I would put some on, even though I would have had no idea what I'm doing.
I looked at my phone. I had an hour before I needed to leave and head to Delta Psi.
I sighed and decided to make things right with Kayla. She was my friend, and I needed her.
"Kayla?" I said softly and knocked gently on the bathroom door.
It was silent for awhile before she opened the door. She answered it with crossed arms, "What?"
"I'm.. sorry.." I said looking down, not knowing what to say.
After awhile of silence she mumbled, "It's okay, I overreacted." She sighed and pulled me into a hug.
I smiled and hugged back, "Now I'm going to go attempt to put some of that stuff on." I giggled pointing to the make up behind her.
"Wait you're not wearing makeup?" She asked sounded surprised.
"Uh yeah.. couldn't you tell?" I laughed.
She shook her head, "Natural beauty baby, only some are blessed with it."
I laughed and shook my head, "But if you want we can just put a little mascara on those lashes." She said walking back into the bathroom and grabbing a tube of what I was assuming was mascara.
"Sit." She said as I sat on toilet.
"Now blink every time I bring this near your lash okay?" She said and opened the bottle.
I nodded and opened my eyes wide. She brought the brush to my eye and I blinked.
"Good!" She encouraged with a small laugh.
I smiled and laughed as well. She did the same thing again but this time I didn't mean blink on time and I felt pain in my eye.
I jumped up grabbing my eye, "Sammy!" She laughed covering her mouth, "You didn't blink!" She laughed.
"Ow.." I said groaning in pain, "It's in my eye!"
"Here let me help.." Kayla shook her head laughing. She grabbed some toilet paper and got it a little wet.
"Okay now let's try this without ruining your mascara completely." She laughed and I nodded opening my eye wide.
She dabbed the wet toilet paper around my eye and soon the pain was relieved.
"Thank you." I giggled standing up. She just smiled and nodded. I looked in the mirror and I was surprised.
How could something so simple as mascara make me look entirely different?
"Alright well, I'll see you after the bonfire?" Kayla asked looking at me while she cleaned up her makeup.
I nodded and hugged her one last time, "Thank you so much." She just gave a small smile and nodded, "Anytime."
I grabbed my keys and phone, "I'll see you later." I smiled and waved as I walked out of the dorm.
I walked to my car and buckled up. I started it and drove to where I remember Kayla lead me. I saw delta Psi, and it was crowded.
It gave me this nervous feeling. I didn't like the thought of me
being alone in this crowded placeI took a long deep breath and closed my eyes. I opened the slowly and then smiled. I was ready for this. I opened my car door and got out.
