"This really isn't necessary," I whined as Caitlyn sat me in front of a mirror so I could watch her curl my hair.
"Yes, it is! I don't want the people at the club thinking you're there because your cat died," She said and pulled out a strand of my hair. Painfully, if I may add.
"Seriously though, do I really need this much work?" I asked in a grumpy tone, kicking my legs like a kid.
"You'd be surprised," Caitlyn muttered and I gave her the finger. She saw it in the mirror and smiled at me.
"I love you too," She said and I sighed. She'd always do this for my birthday; torture me until at least one of us, usually her, is satisfied with the way I look. I won't lie though; she does a pretty good job at being a stylist slash make-up artist. Not once have I lost a guy because of the way I look.
"So... Same plan tonight as well?" I asked, and Caitlyn nodded, too caught up with my hair to even look at me. That's what we did every year for my birthday; she'd set me up with someone I've never met, and then she finds herself someone at the bar too. She's also almost always the one telling a good story in the morning.
"Have you already set up the date?" I asked and suddenly, Caitlyn seemed excited.
"Mhm," She almost squealed and it made me roll my eyes. She's always been more excited about my dates than me. Usually because I knew I'd screw it up in advance, but Caitlyn would always have faith in me. It gets more and more annoying over the years.
"What's he like?" I asked again but Caitlyn said nothing.
"You're not gonna tell me what's he like, are you?" Before I even finished the sentence, Caitlyn started shaking her head with a smile on her face, and I sighed yet again. It was another thing she always did; she'd never tell me anything about the guy. I guess this year is no exception.

"Two beers, Mitch," Caitlyn said, well, shouted actually as we sat at the bar. This was by far the loudest club I've ever been at, and it wasn't even that loud.
We got our drinks, and for a few minutes just sat there, talking. We knew that I soon had a blind date, so we wouldn't see each other until late tonight, maybe even morning. That is, if Caitlyn decides to have a bit more fun than usual.
"Hey," Caitlyn started as she stood up.
"It's 10:30, I'm gonna go find your guy, alright? Don't go anywhere." She pointed her finger at me and I kept nodding the entire time. A few moments later she was out of my sight and I was left at the bar with two bottles of beer. Someone could think I'm here so I could get drunk. Well, that wasn't very far from the truth, I'd always leave the club a little tip-
"Hey babe." I jumped as I felt a pair of lips dangerously close to my ear. I swiftly turned around and noticed a blonde guy smirking at me.
"Um, hi?" I said, but it came out more as a question. Could this be the guy Caitlyn had set me up with? They usually don't find me on their own.
"I'm Max," The guy said and I turned to him again, to observe him. Tall, blonde hair and green eyes. He was quite cute. I'd say an 8 out of 10.
I nodded at his statement, a little awkward. This had never happened to me before; having a guy introduce himself to me while I waited for Caitlyn to return with my actual guy.
"What's your name?" Max asked and I mentally rolled my eyes. This guy wasn't going to give up easily.
"Lorena," I said, but it came out too quietly for blondie to hear.
"What's that? Lauren?" I shook my head, slightly annoyed. I really hope this isn't my guy.
"Lorena," I pretty much spelt the word out for him, and he laughed, which made a smile tug at my lips. He did have a nice laugh.
