Edit: Just know that I didn't see the future episode clips before writing up this theory. This chapter's basically useless if you saw the clips.
In the final seconds of the episode, It Could've Been Great, Steven catches a glimpse of Peridot smuggling a diamond. After all that has happened, I can only conclude that this is a communication device to Homeworld. This is Peridot's way to get revenge on the Crystal Gems (or at least a chance to redeem herself assumed by the leaked promo with Lapis). The next episode, as the leaked images shows, will be about Steven trying to take back the communications device before Peridot contacts Yellow Diamond. We all know that Yellow Diamond will eventually come to Earth and this will probably happen for half-end the episode or the half-beginning of the next episode.
