Sleep, my mind told me. Wait. Why was i awake anyways? I had been sound asleep before... Then a pounding. I heard knocks.

It couldn't be Lola. She was with her family. Oh well.

Four more knocks.

I groaned, staring at my small, pink, digital clock, sighing. 9:24? Come on people...

I flopped back down and shut my eyes, waiting to fall asleep.

Two more knocks.

Groaning again, I hoisted myself up and put on some slippers, putting my hair into a pony and slipping on my around-the-house glasses instead of contacts.

Shuffling to the door with sleepy eyes i yawned.

I turned the lock and was ready to tell this guy to leave me alone.

"Look," I started with my eyes closed.

I opened and stopped talking, seeing Harry jogging in place and take a step back.

"Oh, sorry. Bad time? I just..." He panted, wiping sweat off of his forehead, "just.. Was wondering how everything went."

With the sleeve of the wool cardigan i had just put on, I squinted one eye and rubbed the tiredness out of it.

"Fine, fine," I murmured, "It's just... I've only been sleeping a few hours and... This isn't a great time..." I tried to say.

"Yeah, no worries, I was on a run and i thought I would stop by yanno? Because..." He stopped again, catching his breath, "'Cause I wanted to ask you to come to a small party with me tonight. There'll be like 11 people. You should really come with me."

I pushed his damp curls out of his eyes and to the side, "Sure, curly-head."

I giggled at my own joke and he rolled his eyes, "Just exercising!"

"So I'll see you... Eight-ish?"

I nodded, and so did he, smiling as he jogged down the pathway.

"Could you bring, maybe a little snack or something for it?"

I said yes as he continued to leave.

"Nice outfit by the way!" He called.

I noticed my baby pink cami and my pink and white striped pajama pants with my sweater.

"Nice tennie's!" I retorted at his neon Nike's. I saw him laugh.

By 2:00 at work, I was already ready to go home... 3:00 passed, then 4:00...

You see, I had three jobs. Two part-time, and one full time.

This was a part-time job at a small deli-cafe, and I was a barista basically.

Sometimes I'd help make some sandwiches or clean dishes in the back, but mostly I was a server.

"Madison!" Someone called, I flipped my head to look, my ponytail giving me whiplash.

It was the co-manager, rushing around.

I walked up to her and she grabbed me by the shoulder.

"We have an order for twenty five sandwiches, half turkey half ham. Only put the meat on and put enough servings for all of the other ingredients into those containers. I'll have Drew and Macy help too. Just get started!"

She then went to the back room for some reason.

I sighed and pulled on gloves, adjusting my visor and apron. Beginning to align the bread, the two others came to help.

With three people doing this, it went by fairly quick.

Twenty minutes passed by after packing mayo and pickles and other sandwich fixings before we were done.

Peeling off the gloves, i tossed them in the garbage, now going to work the register.

Being 4:45, it wasn't yet time for the dinner rush, so it was basically dead except for a few girls drinking Iced Tea's.

I looked out of the window with a bored expression, noticing a familiar car parking.

Was it...?

No... Couldn't be.... Right?

As a head full of curls stepped out, I gasped. This was not happening!

How embarrassing for him to know that I worked here!

"Macy!" I panicked, "Macy! Work the register for a second... Im... Im on my period!" I lied, running into the back.

She shrugged and laughed at me, walking up.

I watched quietly through the window.

"Hello, how can I help you?"

He smiled at her, "I ordered the sandwiches? I called in this morning."

Macy nodded and went to grab the platter, "Here's all twenty five... This comes out to... $76.80."

He held up a finger and blushed, "I have a coupon."

Macy even giggled a bit and read off his new total.

He payed and took the tray into his arms.

"Harry! Hi!" One of the girls from the table exclaimed.

"Hey, Kamryn," he replied politely.

They made small talk for a minute or two before Harry said, "So, I'll see you tonight?"

Basically this meant either way i was screwed. The girl had seen me working here, and she'd see me tonight! I sighed.

Harry walked out and the door made a ding.

I walked back out and in the open, when the same girl came up and asked for some sugar packs.

"So, I saw you run into the back when that boy came in. Mind me asking why?" She said in a way that didn't come off rude, just curious.

"Uh, well, if you have to know... He um... I met him a couple weeks ago, and he's taken me out on a date... I just thought it was embarrassing to tell him i worked here... When I look like this... You know?" I tried to explain, but ended up just sounding dumb.

"Girl stuff," she giggled, "I totally understand actually. So you said he's taken you on a date... Do you guys have... Um... Any planned-"

"Yeah, the party tonight. I love small party's with only a few people. You're going to be there?"

She nodded and laughed, "I'm guessing he didn't explain all of it... If you say 27 people is small then sure! And it's a boat party. My boyfriend has a boat, and throws them all the time..."

My eyes bulged a bit, "Really? Wow... Well I'm bringing a fruit platter," I said sincerely, eventually realizing how lame it sounded.

She giggled at me again, "Trust me..." She looked for my name tag, "Madison. Madison, do yourself a favor and don't bring it. Some people we hang out with are pretty cruel and they'd be all over you for playing the innocent card... Especially some of Jase's dumb friends."

I opened my mouth to say an okay and a thanks. This girl really knew her stuff about the party scene...

And it was her boyfriend's party, and she seemed nice, so basically i was going to take her advice.

"On second thought, bring it! I can vodka infuse it for you and you'll be the life of the party... See you then sweets," she said before walking back to her friends.

I nodded and smiled, adjusting my visor. This would be a great time!
