"Hey fiery," hollers Carlos to Elsie.
"Oh no," she says to herself, "he knows. He knows."
Elsie is extremely worried. Will he stop dating her now that he knows? She was trying to keep him from getting caught in the mess between her, her imprisoned father, demanding mother, and the Mutant Extraction Force. Elsie couldn't be any more concerned for his safety and that of her other friends as well. That afternoon, she has her mom pick her up from school. She can't show her face around her boyfriend or best friend right now. She just needs to be alone, to relax and take back control of her fire powers.
