Chapter 1
I slowly sat up, regaining consciousness, off of the cold forest ground. I looked around; it was nighttime and I was in the woods.
'Huh?' I thought, 'How did I end up here?'
I stood up dizzily and caught onto a tree before falling over. I realized that I had hit my head on something, but what? I felt something lightly patter my foot. I looked down to see some a dark liquid in a small spot across my shoe.
"Wha- what is this?" I said softly.
I looked up, nothing but treetops and the cloudy night sky. Confused, I scratched the back of my head while also feeling the large bump that had sprouted from some accident when I see a large, bloody gash on the side of my arm. The sight of that almost made me shrieked.
'How did I not notice this before?' I thought worriedly.
I didn't have anything to wrap it in so i just decided to hold it as tightly as i could with my bare hand. What a great infection this will be later.
I started walking around the woods desperate to find either a way out or someone to help me. Everywhere I went looked the same though; bushes, trees and darkness. I was hopelessly lost. The one thing I did find intriguing was the old looking signs everywhere hanging on the trees. They weren't your average 'DO NOT ENTER' or 'NO TRESPASSING' signs, they were small drawings, as if by a child maybe? They had things like 'NO EYES ALWAYS WATCHING', 'NO ESCAPE HE WILL FIND YOU' or just a picture of a no faced man in a suit in what looks like to be forest. I ignored those thinking they were just somebody's little idea of 'fun' and continued on searching for a way out.
A lot ran through my mind while I was wandering. Not just negative things...well... everything in my life is kind of negative so I take that back. I seemed to wander without thinking about it really, causing myself to become even more lost. Great.
I stopped in my tracks when I heard something faint. It seemed to be far away so I thought ignoring it would be the best thing to do but something in my gut was telling me that this was important. My pace slowed down, I started walking more cautiously hoping whatever that thing was wouldn't hear me. Sadly, I was out of luck.
I heard rustling in the bushes, followed by what seemed like a child's sick laughter. I started running without thinking. I don't know where I was going but I just had to get away from whatever that thing was. I heard thuds from behind but never had a chance to look. The child's laughter sounded like it was getting closer.
'Oh god. Oh god oh god oh god!' I thought. 'I'm going to die.' But something struck me. I wasn't all that afraid of death.
I kept running, faster and faster until I found a tree that would be large enough to hide my terrified self. I skidded behind it, hoping that that cretin wouldn't notice my presence there. I collapsed on the ground, my body frozen in shock. I quietly sat up with my back pressed to the trunk of the tree and waited for another noise to break my fearful silence but nothing happened. I sighed and got myself situated.
"Thank God thats o-" I was cut off by a chilling, bony hand pressed up against my mouth. I tried screaming but it was just muffled out. I was practically hyperventilating at this point.
'Oh god... what do I do to deserve this?' I thought
I couldn't even see the person, only a silouete of what looks like a man in a hoodie. I tried examining him more but that as interrupted by a sharp, tingling feeling of a knife held up against my throat.
"Get up." He growled. I could barely understand him so of course I stayed down.
"I said get up already! Don't you listen?" He shouted in a more angered tone. I slowly slid up the tree with my hands pressed against it, trying to hold on for dear life. His knife was ready to pierce into my skin while his hand still covereing my quivering mouth. I knew I was going to die right then and there. But who would care? Who would even notice? My thoughts drifted off for a moment but i was snapped right back into reality when his creaky voice said "Now listen hear, I just want you to do one thing for me understand?"I nodded quickly.
"Ju-just one little, thing. Simple little thing, okay?" It almost sounded like he was stuttering. I responded again with a nod.
His pale face, as white as the moon itself came closer to my ear while I was about ready to break down in tears.
"Go. To. Sleep."
*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP*
I shot up out of my bed covered in sweat and tears.
'That was...that.. was a dream?' I thought to myself wiping away the liquids from my red cheeks. I checked my alarm clock; 6:50 am.
'Great. Just in time for school.' I thought. 'Whoopdy do.'
I got ready for school and went downstairs with my bag clumisly slumped over my shoulder. Jen was yelling over the phone to someone that i believe was a co-worker and dad was passed out on the couch again. That filthy mule. What a terrible excuse of a father he is. I think Jen and I feel the same away about that rat, he's lazy, disgusting and treats us like we're nothing. Always screaming at us for no reason. It's the alcohol that always gets him fired up. That's what turned him into an abusive parent, it turned him into a monster.
I was just about to make my out of the door when Jen just had to come and stop me. She looked at me in disgust.
"Ugh you're going out like that?" She snorted while pointing at my outfit.
"Listen. I'm gonna be late if you don't move so do you mind?" I said trying to push past her. I heard her grunt at me but I ignored it and continued to walk out of the door.
"Hey try to not come home today! I don't feel like dealing with you tonight!" I heard her shout from the front door.
"It's only 7 in the morning and I'm already pissed. Great. Now let's just get over with another day in hell already." I mumbled to myself only because it was true. My life was a living hell.
