I'm from street corner niggas and basketball games,
I am from girls growing up fast just to save the day,
I am from weed and piss the aura in the project stair steps,
I am from years going by and we're still in debt,
I am from large assets and wild hair,
Arroz con pollo, jerk chicken, and jollof rice scenting,
I am from police sirens being the morning alarm clocks and the nighttime lullabies,
I am from" I ain't got a future, so why even try"
I am from babies having babies,
I am from papas maybe,
I am from don't walk pass court land, them niggas crazy,
I am from sidewalks being decorated with bloods,
Bullets are the reign of terror, no one is shown love,
I am from empty refrigerators,
Unpaid rent means another cold night at the shelter,
I am from a borough that continues burning so it created a thousand fighters,
I am from NYPD payed to take black lives,
I am from brothas losing their lives slanging that white,
Dead presidents cause a dilemma on what's wrong or right,
But where I'm from it survival of the fittest to make it through the night,
I am from love, I am from hate
Where I'm from it's so much that one can take
But it's my home, my palace, the city my soul is trapped in,
So maybe it may not be upper Manhattan or the hamptons,
These boogy down streets is where my heart is attached with.
