Black and proud but sometimes my blackness feel like a curse,
If I have a son will he see 20? Damn that shit hurts,
From niggas releasing bullets like its grand theft auto,
To the modern klan ready to make sure brothers don't see tomorrow,
Pain and sorrow so I listen to pacs keep your head up,
Try not to make the wrong move to keep from getting wet up,
Life's a set up for people like me,
Young black and gifted with dreams,
Living in the jungle how the hell am I suppose to succeed,
We use to get whipped the chains,
Now niggas kill each other for whips and chains,
Ain't it a shame slaverys over but we still play the white mans game,
Hate complaining cuz things always seem to stay the same,
Oh shit look at me tryna be righteous,
But it's hard when your around niggas tryna leave you lifeless,
Be a badass from prices and high tech devices,
Especially when your surrounded by leaking ceilings and mices,
The ghetto, an underground world America have seem to forgotten,
We're given foods stamps, wic checks, and welfare and all of a sudden were spoiled rotten,
But the ignore all the children left dead in their coffin,
If they were as white as Cotten would that have the conversation sparking,
Like sandy hook will people finally realize that bullets don't discriminate,
it doesn't matter if your white, black, rich, or poor we all die and bleed the same,
What a shame in 2015 their still no change,
But I'm still going to hope and pray that this nation will one day be what it claims,
A nation that really stands for liberty and justice for all,
There will be no reason to fear the law,
Cuz no one is trying to see us fall,
Black and proud but my blackness feel like a rumble,
and what's worst is that my own people seem to add on to my struggle,
Until we stop fighting each other and start fighting the injustice that really exist,
We'll always be in the bottom fighting for our existence.
