Phil Lester was hurt. He wasn't hurt physically, no, the weak push into the metal lockers the brown haired boy had given him wasn't painful. Phil was hurt because that brown haired boy was his friend. No.. more than a friend. Right?
Something changed in Dan Howell, the brown haired boy. He used to be a stellar student. Straight A's with the occasional B+. Definitely good looking. He was even close to Phil. But everything seemed to have taken the wrong turn. No longer had Dan, the beautiful boy with gorgeous brown eyes, been receiving A's, much less a B. The sparkles in his eyes and tannish tint on his skin had began to fade. He always looked run-down and worn out. Phil was probably the first to notice. The first day they walked into the hallways of their new high school, Phil noticed something different. Dan's pushes were no longer friendly shoves. Dan wouldn't even meet eyes with Phil anymore.

What hurt more than anything, was instead of meeting Phil at his house everyday after school, Dan would meet with Evan Brown in the alley behind the alcohol shop.

Dan didn't care. Lester's ice-blue eyes didn't make him feel warm inside anymore, they just taunted him. It was like Phil was asking Dan to punch him. His jet black fringe pained him physically. He just wanted Phil out of his life. At least that's what he was telling himself. Every time Dan would feel himself falling for Phil again, he'd pull himself back away. 'No Dan. Stop. You can't like boys. Much less Phil Lester. It's not normal,' He'd constantly remind himself. 'You have a girlfriend, Dan, stop!' Compared to Dan's everyday obstacles, his questionable sexuality was the worst.
