We decided. We're going to go look for people, anyone we can find. We need to be careful.

We get all of our bags together. I take a small backpack and pack a few things I could need: my wallet, the key to my apartment, a small blanket, a few water bottles, and a sweatshirt. E takes his huge army bag and stuffs the little food that we have into it. I'm too busy packing my own bag to watch what he puts in his. We're looking around to see if there is anything else we need. Neither of us bother to bring our cell phones, all the towers are out so what would be the point? Who can we even call?

We set out, quietly locking the door behind us. The lights are flickering outside, which you can barely see because of the dark clouds and rain. There's something dark and wet on the ground, E quickly grabbed my hand and tugged me to the side to make me walk around it.

As we make it outside, the wind tastes of something strange. Everything seems so unfamiliar. This is such a happy place, what is happening...? Everything is dark and quiet until we hear screaming from the street behind us. Both of us jump, not knowing what happened. I can feel my heart racing and can hear the sound of E's teeth chattering behind his lips.

"HELP ME! THEY'RE COMING!", a woman yells.

Who's coming? Why? What is happening?! Nothing fucking makes sense anymore.

The woman lets out her final scream, but there's muttering behind it, of other people... E and I quickly run to the closest home, knocking on doors, looking for anyone who can tell us what is going on. There is no hope, everyone and everything is gone.
