We figured since nobody was in their homes, that it would be okay to try and sneak into one... so we do. We find a small town house, one that we know is empty. We don't bother turning any lights on, but we do look for food. Even just snacks. We'll take whatever we can get our hands on. There's nothing. Whoever lives here must have taken it all with them.

There are noises coming from down the street. It isn't the wind nor the rain, but the same muttering we had heard earlier when the woman was screaming. I feel my stomach drop, sinking lower and lower as the noise continues. The noise only seems to get closer and closer. We try to lay low, hiding inside a small closet upstairs after making sure all the doors are locked.

We heard the muttering stop. E goes outside to see what it was, taking his flashlight and a bat we had found in the house. Things are quiet for a few minutes until I hear the gate outside being slammed into.

I hear him yell at the top of his lungs, "Sam! I was right. Hide NOW!"

What is he right about? Why do I know nothing?!This isn't a fucking joke anymore. I can't just leave him out there. I grab a pan from the kitchen, not knowing what else to take. When I get out there, it's the most horrific sight I've seen in my entire life. There aren't just a few, but almost an entire horde of zombies, i guess you could call them. It's like one of those shitty horror movies that you make fun of, except this is no movie. All of them are torn to bits with flesh hanging off their cold, cold bones. The rain is still as heavy as it was before. Thinking to myself... this is it. This is how things are going to end.

E continues to swing at the zombies as they come at him, knocking each one down and weakening them with each bash. I grab E and yank him inside, slamming the door behind me. We wouldn't last long in the house, they'd make their way in. We need to find somewhere to go without them spotting us, we need to move fast.
