I wake up to what feels like i'm being thrown off the couch, I'm being shaken violently.
"WHAT?! WHAT IS IT?!", I yell, trying to focus my eyes on E.
"Sam, we need to hide. NOW.", he says, pulling me up off the couch and going towards the back room of the cabin. We hide in the small closet where quilts lay on the top shelf and worn-out flannels hang from the rack.
They must be here again. Why the fuck does this need to happen? I finally get some sleep and calm down, and the nightmare becomes real again. I try my hardest not to cry as E pulls me close to him. The sound of leaves crunching under heavy footsteps gets closer to the cabin. E wipes my eyes and tells me it's okay.
The door creaks open, and in come the muttering creatures. I can't tell how many there are, but I stay quiet to keep us safe.
E puts his hand over my mouth to keep me quiet. As they get closer to where we are, I begin to shake again. What the hell do we do if they find us? Do they know we're here or are they just floating around from place to place?
I peek out of a small crack in the closet door. This is a whole new group. This time, they're much worse. One of the "women" has dark red flesh hanging from her neck.. while another has half of their face missing.. it feels as if I'm trapped in a horror film and can't escape.
They stumble across the cabin, looking for anything they can find. E puts his finger to his lips, I try my hardest to calm down. I can feel him shaking right next to me, I know he's just as terrified as I am.
The zombies make their way out of the cabin it sounds like, but we don't know for sure. We're going to wait a few minutes until we're sure they've passed.
