Chapter 2: The First Day

It was early the next morning when Rima and Ruka came back from classes. We grabbed our satin pyjamas from the chest of drawers and got into bed. The sun had just started to rise as I tiredly closed my eyes and drifted into sleep...

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping. I turned to look at the clock, it was 3:12 p.m. Rolling over, I got out of bed and threw on my shirt and my jeans. After I ate some breakfast and brushed my teeth, I decided to try the blood tablets again.

The water bubbled until it had turned red. I picked up the glass and took the smallest sip I could take. I managed to
(barley) swallow the drink without spewing everywhere. It tasted bitter, like.. Well like blood!

I was still pretty tired, so I grabbed my manga and silently snuck out of my dorm. I walked down the grand staircase to the kind of living room. I sat down on the leather sofa and started to read. "Um, hello?"

I almost fell off my chair as I looked up into the eyes of a blonde-haired, green-eyed boy. His smile was soft and kind and his eyes were loving and caring. My heart started to beat faster. "Uh, uh, uh..." He smiled and said "You must be the new girl that President Kuran told me about. I'm Takuma Ichijo, the dorm Vice President."

He stuck out his hand for me to shake. "And you are?" I started blankly into his eyes. "C'mon Hikari. Talk to him. If you act awkward you'll regret it for the rest of your life. So stop listening to a voice in your head and talk to him!"

I took his hand and replied "Hi, my name's Hikari Akagawa." He came and sat down next to me. "Nice to meet you, Hikari Akagawa. What are you reading?" He pointed to my manga book. "Oh, it's MeruPuri." His eyes lit up. "Oh, I love those mangas! How many have you read?"

We talked for a while, mostly about manga. We just finished talking about our favourite part when a voice called for Takuma. "Ichijo, where are you?"
"Um, down here President Kuran!" He mouthed "sorry" to me and ran up the stairs.

I felt butterflies in my stomach all the way back to my dorm. I closed the door and sank down to lean against it. I couldn't stop smiling! Suddenly Rima walked into the hallway scratching her head. "What's up with you?" I stared at her with a grin. "Which boy did you meet?"

I laughed out loud and replied "How could you tell?" She grabbed her hairbrush and started putting her hair in pigtails. "Because every girl from the Day Class has the exact same look after they see one of the Night Class boys."
"I met Takuma."  "Oh, that makes sense."

"And then we talked about MeruPuri for like a while and it was so, so..."
"Magical?" I looked surprised when Rima finished my sentence perfectly. "Well, if you like him, he is dorm vice-president. So, it comes with some perks." I thought about what she said for the next hour, thinking about whether he's actually into me or if he's just being nice to me...

Later that day, Ruka and Rima showed me the dining area. (Just a table with food the chef prepared!) Then we ate supper (I think) with the rest of the Night Class. "By the way, Ichijo," Kaname told him, "You'll be watching over Akagawa until she gets used to the Night Class."

I almost spat out my food when I heard what he said. I could see Rima and Ruka giggling and Takuma blushing. "Uh, ok President Kuran." Kaname explained. "You know how crazy the Day Class can be, it's too risky."

We were all hanging out downstairs, and I noticed that everyone was drinking the blood tablets. So, o decided to try mine for the third time. I felt as if the whole Night Class was watching me. I took a bigger gulp this time and swallowed it down as fast as possible. It was getting better.

It was around 7:00 p.m. when people started going back to their dorm. I followed Ruka back before I collapsed on to the sofa. Ruka came over and said "So, how hard were you trying not to spit your food out when Kaname-sama said that he assigned Takuma to look after you?"

"Well, it was hard, but it'll be fine, I'll be calm about it." Ruka could tell I was lying, but she let me be for a while. I grabbed my manga from the table and took out the piece of paper that Takuma had recommended mangas on. I read the list again and again until I
had memorized them.

At like 8:30, we got in our uniforms and started to leave. I grabbed all the textbooks from the bookshelf in our bedroom that I needed and ran after Rima and Ruka. We all met in front of the big black doors to make sure we were all here. Then, we opened the doors and walked through to where we had classes.

At the end of that path, there were large iron gates before we reached the building. I could hear screaming from the other side of the gate. I felt Takuma lean in and whispered, "That's the Day Class. They think we're so amazing, which we are, so they usually scream. A lot."

He moved away and I felt a warm feeling rush through my body. Just before we got the gates, he came almost in front of me and said "Just in case." I looked at Rima and she gave me a thumbs up. I turned back to the gates and prepared myself for what's about to come. The Day Class.

The gated opened as hundreds of young girls flooded the group. "Hello ladies!" I heard the first boy I met say to the girls. In the crowd, I noticed the two people, the boy and girl, that was in the headmasters office. "What were their names again? Think Hikari, think!" The suddenly came to me. I walked over to the girl and said "Hi Yuki. I'm Hikari Akagawa, I'm new."

She quickly turned around and almost jumped out of her skin. "Um, h-hi. Nice to meet you. I'm Yuki Cross, one half of the Disciplinary Committee! My brother, Zero, is the other half." The boy named Zero came over and started at me with his cold blooded eyes. "Well, it was nice meeting you both. See ya!" I turned around and suddenly heard "Hey! Who's the new girl?"

I was suddenly swarmed by a group of the Day Class girls all asking me questions like "What's the Moon Dorm like? Are your classes fun or boring? What's it like being in the same dorm as Idol?" Out of nowhere, Takuma jumped in front of me and said "Alright girls, stay back. No need to crowd her."

I got butterflies again, but only for a few seconds before all the girls were gone. Me and Takuma walked next to each other all the way to the other building. Even if these were the worst classes ever, it would still be the best day ever for me.
