Chapter 4

Chapter 4: Their Fangs

"Alright, get ready to start your test. Ready, and go!" I could hear everyone's paper flip over as the timer starts for the test. My hand was shaking and my forehead was sweating. I was trying to remember everything that I had studied earlier. "This is gonna go so badly..."

The bell rang just as I finished the last question on the test. I heaved a massive sigh of relief while I walked down the stairs to Mr. Yageri. Rima came to join me. "How did you do?" I shrugged as I passed over the test. "Well, I finished all the questions, but I don't know whether I got them right."

We went back to our dorms and started to get ready for bed. We had some free class time after the test so me, Rima and Ruka hung out for a little. Takuma came over and asked whether I wanted to read manga with him. I had gone with him, turned back around and mouthed "sorry" to them. They gave me a thumbs up, they understood.

As I laid down on my silk sheets and pillowcase, I imagined if Takuma really did like me. Well, in the way I liked him. And I wondered if we would ever like each other enough to be, well, more. These thoughts followed me into dreams as I fell asleep.

"Hi. Kaname requested me to bring you to him." I woke up to the voice of a young teen. Yukis voice. I quickly sat up to stare into massive dark brown eyes. "Wh-what are you doing here? Aren't you in the Day Class?" She smiled and said "Oh, I am. But as a proud member of the disciplinary committee, I am here to escort you."

I threw on my robe and followed Yuki through the hallway above the stairs. There were rooms on every side, but we went in the room and the end of the (incredibly) long hallway. She opened the oak door and I saw Kaname laying on a couch, holding a rose. "Good, you're here."

Yuki slipped out behind me as I walked forward. "You wanted to speak to me, Kaname-sama?" He dropped the rose and it slowly turned grey and disintegrated into ash. "Hello Akagawa. I've been meaning to speak to you about... Us."

"What is there to explain?" He gestured for me to sit. I awkwardly sat down in the chair across from him. "The Night Class is different than others. We are not like you. But you seem to fit in well with us. If you ever feel that you do not belong, please tell me."

I put on the best smile I could and thanked him before I hastily made my way out. "What was all that about? Why did he say that they weren't like me?" I went back to my dorm and decided to at least try to drink more blood water.

I managed to choke down half a glass f the disgusting water, which (I think) made me look like I belong. Me and Rima went to go hang out with Senri for a while. Rima explained how her and Senri were models, and they spend most of their free time posing.

Of course, I demanded to see pictures. Senri was hesitant, but Rima grabbed a photo album and showed me dozens of photos of them posing in really weird ways. After that awkward encounter, I went back to my dorm to do some writing. I love to write stories about people I know. I decided to write a story about me and Takuma. (Oh no.. 😜)

I felt the warm hand of Takuma on my cheek. He came in close and whispered in my ear, "I love y-"
My writing was interrupted by the slam of our dorm door. I hastily hid the story underneath my homework and spun off around.

A girl with short lilac hair and lilac eyes was standing in the doorway. "Why do people keep barging in here? Seriously, can't a girl get some privacy?" She had no expression as she told me "Dinner is ready. Everyone is waiting for you." I followed her out, down the stairs and to the table.

After we ate, we all went to go do our own things. Me and Takuma❤️ went to my dorm and read manga and talked about our favourite mangas. It had been around an hour when Ruka and Rima took me away to talk about guys. (Mostly Kaname, Senri and Takuma.)

Quite a bit later, it was time to go to classes. I was so nervous about the test, I had made up a lot of the answers. "I know that you are anxious to get your test, but we still have work to do. You will get your score at the end of class."

"What?!" I almost wanted to stand up in the middle of class and tell him that I was almost dying of worry about this freaking test! But I kept my cool and stared at my sheets of homework. "Now, let us explain the history of vampires." It's gonna be a while...

"And that was how the first vampire was born." I leaned over and whispered to Ruka "I didn't realize this was a health lesson." She giggled and nodded to me. "I don't know what Kaname was talking about. I feel like I'm fitting in really well."

I felt like classes dragged on forever. He kept explaining stuff that we didn't need to know about. Like, how the first two vampires got married, why vampires are real and the reason we're all here. I leaned back over to Ruka and whispered "Why do we need to learn this?"

"Because it's our history. It's why we're here today." She went back to writing notes and I thought about what she said. "Why we're all here? I'm not a vampire, none of us are. Well, wait a minute..."

My thoughts were interrupted by Mr. Yageri summing up his talk. "With that,  our class has finished. Now I will pass out your test." My eyes widened and my heart started beating fast. This was my first test at a new school, so I was hoping that it went well.

He walked through the seats and passed out tests. He came to my seat and passed me my test. He whispered to me "Work harder next time." I looked at him with a confused look an my face. "How could I work any harder? I worked incredibly hard!"

Rima came over and asked "What did you get?" I had forgotten completely about the test. I took a breath and quickly turned over the (3 page) test. "I think this looks good. Wait... 51%?!"

Wait, I get a point of view? Oh, awesome! So, just a quick message. Btw, Hikari is HORRIBLE at tests, homework, really anything to do with school. So, this proves difficult for her later on. But, it also gets her closer to Takuma... ;-) ❤️ Anyway, I'll try to keep updating the story as soon as possible. See ya!
