A bit of background- I wrote this poem after the 2015 election and each of the colours are different parties (each the colour of their campaign). As you can probably guess I'm not a fan of David Cameron (blue) and the Sun represents the negative influence of the media. Enjoy.
The fight between the colours of the rainbow begins with...
One distrusted,
One sly,
One boring,
One dreamer,
One snob,
One ignorant,
Then millions of tiny little raindrops,
And the Sun.
Each tiny little raindrop had to pick a colour,
But each tiny little raindrop disagreed with another.
As one of great influence the Sun had to pick too,
And it chose blue,
For blue was rich and the Sun was greedy.
So with the raindrops in disarray the Sun decided to take it's chance.
It pushed and prodded with golden fingers,
And whispered words that carried on the soft breeze:
Red was strong and passionate, but the Sun said it would bring instability.
Yellow was clever and headstrong, much like red, so to put that colour to bed it let it flourish undeterred.
Orange was steady and sensible, but the Sun named it weak.
Green was idealistic and caring, yet it was called impractical.
Purple was ignorant and prone to mistakes, so the Sun just made sure it was the first to let them be known. So the raindrops, like sheep, preferring to obey,
Let the Sun have it's way,
And the wide expanse behind the rainbow of colours remained blue.
