Chapter 3 Late Night

The girls were all at my place, being squeaky and noisy. I may be a cheerleader but am not that girly. I layed on my bed and turned up the volume on my stereo, requested by Maddie, the song 'wildest dreams' by Taylor Swift was playing and she danced and sang along sillily. Lexie sat beside me, on her phone, texting. She not been able to put that phone down since yesterday.
'So?' I asked
'What?!' She replied not even looking up from her phone.
'Who's got you rapped up?!' I said sitting up. She smiled to herself.
'Wellllll...' She started.
'I hate those long 'well's'!' I said
'Its Nathan...' She said turning red on the spot.
'How come I don't know about this?!' I asked
'I thought maybe, after what Stephen did, you wouldn't wanna talk about them...' She answered and searched for an emotion on my face.
'Stephen apologized...and for Christ sake am your best friend, I need to know who your fucking!' I said
'OMG Bliss!' She said and hit me with a pillow.
'Its not even like that!' She continued.
I fell down laughing n tossed the pillow right back at her.
We spent the rest of the afternoon online, in silence. Each one of us on our phones, my mom peeked through the door and laughed.
'You girls just finished highschool and your sitting inside on the internet?! Nice!' She said with a ring of sarcasm in her tone. We chuckled and none of us raised our heads from our phones.
'Bliss, I already sent in your suitcases, and booked my flight! I'll be down a few weeks after you guys.' She added.
'Thanks mom! You're the best.' I said looking up from my phone and giving her an assurance smile.
I dropped Jayde and Kylie home to get ready for the party, then came home and found Lexie and Maddie already dressed.
'You guys realize, its a house party?!' I asked
'Yeah, but Charles texted and said that we should wear heels and look hot!' Maddie said.
'Did he now?!' I said and reached for my phone. I dailed Charles number and luckily he picked up after 2 rings..
'Bliss, baby! What's up?! You coming to my party?!' He said on the other line, music playing in the background, he sounded drunk already.
'Hi, yeah! Wouldn't miss it..but I heard we have to wear heels?! What's up with that?!' I answered
'I just like my girls wearing high heels!' He said and laughed
'Fetish much!'
'Just make sure your smoking hot babe!'
'Sure, see you soon!'
'Can't wait!' He said before I hung up the phone.
By 8pm, Lexie had tried on 10 outfits and I had not even taken a shower.
'Go Bliss, you smell! And will be late.' Maddie complained as she pushed me to the bathroom.
Maddie wore a cute blue dress with white Louboutins heels and she wore her hair up to show off the beautiful purple earrings Derek gave her.
Lexie wore a white tight fit backless dress with red Louboutins heels. She curled her hair and it was gorgeous.
I wore a cleavage all lace body fit red dress and Black Versace high heels. I combed my hair into a neat pony tail and my red highlights came out perfectly.
'Bliss, I can see your underwear!' Maddie said with concern...
'But, it not the revealing!' She added.
'You look beautiful...we look smoking hot!' She finally said.
Lexie took tons of selfies before she was ready to leave. I grabbed my keys and purse and head out. My patent knew we were off but didn't bother to come see. They just asked me to lock the door behind me.
Once we were on the road, I called Brian to check in with him.
'Yo twin! What's good?! Where are you?!' He said after picking up the phone
'On our way, I have to get Kylie first. You picked Jayde up yet?!'
'Yeah, we're almost there. Hurry!' He ordered and hung up.

Charles party was full of people, his dad greeted us as we entered,
'Bliss, how are you?!' He said onve he saw me.
'Am fine, and you Joe?'
'Great! You get more beautiful every time I see you.'
'Thanks, its a gift' I said and we both laughed.
Charles crept up behind me and hugged me.
'I knew you wouldn't disappoint.' He said n kissed my cheek. This guy, was crazy lustful towards me. I can't even begin to count how many times he wanted to hook up.
Anyway, we got drinks, we mingled, we found Brian and the boys and a surprise visit from our two beloveded; Stephen and Nathan.
Lexie ran over to him n hugged him tightly and started kissing him. I made sure that I didn't meet Stephen's gaze but I could feel him eyeing me.
'What are you guys doing here?!' I asked as I hugged Nathan, then his brother. I kept it cool, trying so hard not to melt.
'Charles invited us! Plus we were in the neighborhood.' Nathan answered.
Everyone mingled and was having a good time, Maddie and Derek were already on the dance floor,  when I finished my 1st drink.
'Could I get you another?!' Someone asked behind me, I turned around and it was Stephen.
'Sure,' I said handing him my cup. He returned with two full red cups of god knows what and handed me one.
'How have you been Desai?!' He asked. I was 16 when I last saw Stephen and now am turning 19 and he didn't look a day older. He still had those perfect green eyes, that sharp chin, that messy, jet black hair and his body looked bigger than last time. He was wearing long pants and a body fit shirt...no effort need to look this hot!
'Good! And you?!' I said not trying to make things awkward. See, its been almost 3 years and Stephen in college so whenever we were in Bora Bora, he was in school.
'Great!' He answered.
Silence fell between us...
'Why does it have to be like this?!' He asked.
'You never called!' I replied staring at the dance floor which was packed.
'Neither did you, not even a text!' He answered and when I looked at his face, sadness was all I could see.
'I guess pride got the best of us!' I said.
He nodded as he chugged the rest of his drink. Everything seemed fine after we talked...and talked and talked...endlessly.
There was a huge stage and a few guest celebrities performing that night. Lexie and Maddie pulled me onto the dancefloor for a while but then I gave up and sat back down...
The night went by slowly after Stephen and I had ditched the party and lighted a few blunts. He was laughing for no reason,
'You should laugh like that often. It suits you' I said.
We layed there in the car, i was feeling the effect of the joint on every inch of my body.
'I missed you..' I said breaking the silence.
'I missed you more!' He said n touched my cheek. He leaned in to kiss me but he stopped. It felt like the feelings, the lust, the longing was no longer there.
'If I ask you something, would you be honest with me?!' He asked
'Yeah!' I replied
'Are you a virgin?!' He asked
I laughed..defensively I was high.
'Yes, yes I am!' I said trying to stop laughing.
'Really?!' He looked surprised.
I nodded
'What you waiting for? Mr right?!' He asked.
'Maybe,' I said still laughing.
We sat there and he started to talk about how he lost his.
I might not have been on the dancefloor having fun but being high with Stephan was still the best yet.
Suddenly, my phone started buzzing in my purse. I hurried to see who was calling and it was Danny,
'Bliss, where are you?!' He asked.
'I...urhm...am hanging out with Stephen.' I said.
'Oh ok then.' He said sounding disappointed and the hung up.
'Is he still trying to get with you?!' Asked Stephen trying hard not to laugh.
'Its not like that, its just that he is Brian's best friend..and you how how no one is good enough to be with me, according to Brian' I answered with a serious look on my face. He couldn't hold it any longer and just burst out laughing and I joined him.
'Remember the last time I saw you, there was something terrifying in your eyes..something bothering you! Tell me?' I said softly after we both had stopped laughing.
'Its only around you that I feel this way! Weak n vulnerable, its nothing!' He said coldly.
'Don't shut me out Stephen!' I said and placed my right palm on his cheek. He relaxed immediately, as if longing for this moment.
'Bad things happen to people close to me. I am bad for you Bliss!' He said
'Tell me something I don't know,?' I replied.
'I want to...I want to tell you everything but I can't! Its complicated.' He said and I never noticed how much pain he was in.
'I just...can't!' He said sighing.
'I thought we were closer than that,' I replied feeling disappointed and faced the window and stared at the darkness outside.
It was already 2am and the noise inside Charles's house got even louder.
'Bliss?!' He said my name and it sounded so perfect. I continued to stare into nothingness.
'I just don't want you to get hurt!' He added.
'Don't you think that this, is hurting me?!' I asked without facing him.
'I...' He started to say but then fell into silence.
'Its nothing.. I promise! No more secrets.' He finally said n grabbed my hand so that I would face him.
'Nothing else matters right now, just us.' He added n ran his palm through my hair. I was frustrated, how could he be that way! I would give up the world for him but he didn't know that and I intended to keep it that way. He pulled closer, our foreheads touching, I could feel his breath on my face. He moved forward and attempted to kiss me but I turned away. He had a surprised look on his face,
'I have to go' I said as I grabbed my purse n opened the door.
'Don't be like that, Stay!' He pleaded. I looked at his face one last time, broken n hurt were the emotions I was reading. I turned around and left, hoping he would come after me and sweep me off my feet. But he didn't!
I went back inside to the house and found Lexie and Nathan making out by the door. Maddie had fallen asleep on Derek's shoulder in the living room, I sat down next to him and sighed.
'Where have you been?!' He asked.
'Around!' I replied 'Is she drunk?!' I added.
'No, just tierd. I think am gonna bring her home. I call you later to check in ok?!' He said and carried Maddie off like a princess.
Kylie was drunk and was vomiting when I went to the bathroom, I found a glass of water and held her hair as she threw up in the toilet.
'Feeling better?!' I asked
'Yeah, I want to go home now.' She said weakly.
'Here!' I said handing her my keys. 'Wait for me by the car n I'll be right there.' I added. She stumbled her way out the door with her heels in her hand. I rushed to look for Nathan and when I got downstairs I saw Stephen whispering into a girls ear, as soon as he saw me, he kissed her. I pretended not to look and made my way to the front door. On my way I found Charles,
'Leaving so soon?! I thought you would be sleeping in my bed tonight.' He said wrapping his arms around me.
'I would love to!' I said sarcastically 'but I have to take Kylie home, we have a flight to catch tomorrow.' I added
'Goodbye kiss?' He asked, I giggled n pecked his cheek.
'That's it?!' He akesd looking surprised.
'For now!' I said and left. I quickly found my brother and Nathan outside.
'I'm taking Kylie home, I'll see u guys later!?' I said
'Sure, Lexie just brought her to the car.' Nathan said
'I'll see you at home.' Brian added. 'Later!' I said and turned to leave.
Lexie stood by the car with Kylie,
'Get her in the front!' I said.
'I'll call you when I wake up' I added, she just nodded and closed the door.
After putting Kylie in bed, I headed straight home to get some rest. I couldn't stop thinking about how Stephen deliberately kissed that girl. My eyes slowly drifted and I fell asleep.
