Chapter 8 Lost Memories

I was screaming, but there was no sound. I felt terrible, I couldn't move. I forced my eyes to open but they wouldn't.
What happened?! I asked myself, feeling completely vulnerably. I tried so hard to remember my last memories but all I could see was a little boy with bloody hands staring at me.
'I had to do it Bliss, she was going to hurt you! The boy said as he moved towards me.
Why did this nightmare not end?
Why couldn't I wake up from this awful sleep. It slowly drifted away, then I saw a familiar face. A face that I had fallen in love with, a face that left me, but haunted me still. I was so sure that I was never going to see him again, all the lost memories that I had forced myself to burry had suddenly resurfaced. His hands were wrapped around me, and we were dancing under the stars. Why did I let go of this memory? Why was it so hard to remember? I asked myself.
Finally, I was able to open my eyes. Brian sat by my side, his face in the palms of his hand, Jayde stood sadly next to him and to the left I saw Stephen, his back faced me and I couldn't see his expression.
'Stephen!' I said softly reaching for his hand.
'Bliss! I thought...I thought I'd lost you!' My brother said and gave me a huge hug. Brian's never hugged me that way before, I hugged him back n I realized that our connection was stronger now.
Stephen face lightened when he heard my voice, he looked calmer n his eyes were filled with tears, although he quickly dried them before anyone noticed.
'How are you feeling?!' He asked pulling out a chair n sat by my bedside.
'I...What happened?!' I asked trying to sit up straight.
'You don't remember?!' Jayde asked.
I shook my head n I felt a sharp pain, it hurt so bad. I touched my forehead and realized that there was a huge bandage on it.
'You fainted and fell down the balcony, your head hit the ground but someone broke your fall.' Brian explained.
'Flynn!?' We both said at the same time.
'That's all I remember, his face!' I said.
'But why did I faint in the first place?!' I added
'Fear of heights Bliss! You forgot?!' Brian replied looking concerned. I sighed,
'How's your mom?!' I asked facing Stephen, he had been eyeing me for the past 5 minutes.
'She's awake, my brother n Mason are with her!' He replied.
'Mom said she'll be here tomorrow. She's been worried, you've been out cold for 2 days now. Stephen's been here the whole time, he slept in that chair' Brian explained.
'I feel better, you shouldn't have.' I said
'On the contrary I had to, your brother took the sleeping bag.' He said with a grin on his face.
'Thanks Brian! I knew you were here!' I said squeezing his hand.
'We'll leave you two alone, I'll be back later .' He said before kissing my forehead n grabbing Jayde's hand to walk out the door.
'Stephen!' I said trying hard for him to meet my gaze.
'I promised I wouldn't let you get hurt!' He said still looking away.
'And look were you've been laying for the past two days. I told you...am bad for you!' He added then got up and started to walk away.
'Don't! Please don't blame yourself for this, it was all me. I have this fear of heights. This wasn't your fault, Stephen don't leave me!' I begged. He stopped n turned to face me, his gaze met mine and I could tell he was hurting.
'I was the reason you were here in the first place.' He said.
'No, it wasn't. Joanne's like a mother to me too. Stop blaming yourself.' I replied and tried to get out of bed, I sat up straight. My legs felt numb, I touched the floor and it was freezing.
'What...don't get up!' He ordered and walked towards me quickly
'I can't feel my legs. Help me up?!' I said reaching an arm out to him.
He took hold of my arm gently, wrapped on hand around my wrist and helped me up. We walked back and forth from the bed to the door for a few minutes in complete and utter silence.
I stopped in the middle of the room, n faced him, he was closer than I thought, I could smell the cigarette from his breath.
'Promise me that you won't blame yourself for this!' I said placing a hand on his face, immediately, his expression relaxed.
'I didn't know what to do Bliss, what if I'd lost you?! Then what?' He replied
'You haven't lost me Steph.' I said
He eyes widened, no one had called him that for years.
'I promise, I won't!' He replied and before I knew it his lips were on mine, softly n tenderly. He kissed me and I kissed him back, I pulled him closer, showing him how much I needed him to be ok.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. He didn't pull away, his grip got tighter n I melted in his arms, passing my hand through his messy hair. There was another knock, the someone barged in,
'Am sorry! Just wanted to give her a check up!' The voice said behind me. And I froze, that voice, it was familiar. I quickly spun around and Flynn stood by the door.
'Flynn?!' I said n rushed to hug him.
'I'm glad your awake Bliss.' He said hugging me back.
'Let's do a quick check up and I can discharge you out of this place.' He said placing a hand on my waist and leading me to the bed. He did the normal routine check up, and Stephen stood behind him, eyeing his every move.
'What are you doing here?!' I asked.
'Training! And you?! Honey mooning?!' He said gazing over at Stephen.
'Maybe!' I said as a flush of colors filled my cheeks.
So Flynn is like my ex-boyfriend, we've  been dating for a long time. We were this perfect couple and all, but he was older than me and soon he left for college. I broke it off with him, so that he wouldn't feel guilty about leaving. We used to talk on the phone till late, then the calls became lesser each day. And he forgot about me and I about him, and after 4 years he miraculously saves my life.
'I heard what you did. Thank you. I owe you big time?!' I said breaking the ice cold silence between us 3.
'I guess I finally worked on my timing. You're done with school right?!' He said.
'Yeah, we're on holiday!' I said grabbing Stephens hand.
'Can I go home Doc?!' I asked not wanting to meet his gaze.
'Sure, I just have to get your release paper n pills!' He replied.
'Pills?!' Stephen asked looking worried.
'Yeah, for the headaches. Pain killers.' Flynn replied.
'Yeah, thanks Doctor!' I said
'You know you can still call me Flynn, right?!' He said trying to meet my gaze.
'Yes, but...its seems more professional.' I replied and met his gaze.

After he had left, Lexie, Maddie and Derek came barging into the room. I was seated on the bed n Stephen was by my side,
'Bliss! Don't fucking scare me like that again. I thought...we'd lost you.' Maddie said as she rushed to my side in tears.
'Mads!' I said pulling her in for a hug.
'How are you feeling?!' Lexie added after shoving Stephen from my side.
'I'm fine, I just want to go home.' I replied and hugged them both at the same time. These two kept me sane, they reminded me that there was always a chance to fight.
'We're all going home!' Brian said and handed me a paper. My release papers.

After I was packed a set to go, Brian came to pick up my bag after he had gone to see Joanne. I wanted to go as well but she was on the third floor and Stephen had forbidden me to do so.
'Your gonna faint again so stay! I can't loose you again.' Those were his exact words before they all boarded the elevator and left me all alone.
'Can't seem to get over that, can you?!' Flynn said from behind me.
'I thought I was!' I said spinning around to face him.
'Can we talk for a sec, am on break!' He suggested and started walking towards the exit, I followed behind him not sure what he was about to say!
We finally made it outside, the sky was still bright although the sun had started to set.
'So talk Flynn!' I said after we both faced each other.
'I...urhm...So you dating again?!' He asked.
'How could you even ask me that?! Its been 3 years Flynn. I thought I would never see you again.' I said feeling frustrated.
'I know Bliss, but as soon as I was finished here, I was coming home, to you. You've always been my girl, my one n only.' He replied
'How?! You just stopped calling after a while, I thought you moved on!'
'I was caught up in my studies, don't blame this on me when you didn't either.'
'That night, at the airport, we broke up Flynn! We were finished and I let go. I wanted you to be happy.'
'You are what makes me happy Bliss, please, let's just start over. A new beginning, come back home with me!' He said, he was now closer to me than I'd realize.
'I can't, I... I can't leave my family behind, they need me. I'm going to college next year Flynn, so lets just stop making things hard for one another.'
'You're in love with him?' He asked softly.
'No!' I said sternly.
'He's in love with you, I see the way he looks at you, and how he rushed to your side when you fell. His just been from his mum's room to yours, hoping that he wouldn't loose you both at the same time.!' He said
'I....I didn't know,' I said feeling speechless.
'You're going to be the death of him Bliss, unfortunately I wish I was him!'
'Don't say that. We're friends Flynn, he and I just friends.' I could stop staring at the ground.
'Well what are we then?!' He asked
'We should just...like we should hang out. Here!' I said and scribbled my address n phone number on a piece of paper after taking it from his pocket.
'Thanks again, I owe you my life Flynn!'
'Don't sweat it...right place, right time babe' he said and hugged me before going in for his next shift.
