LUKA'S POV
5 MONTHS LATER
Rae and Willow are starting high school today. The thought alone gives me chills. In most cases I would be ok with this, I may have even encouraged them with the news of great things to come but this situation is very different.
This isn't just anyone going to high school, this is my baby sister and my angel. I've been irritated all morning because of it.
"Luka will you just relax? Mom and dad already gave me 'the talk' and I've been briefed on who my teachers are, who to stay away from and the route to get to and from home. I will be fine." Willow says kissing my cheek. Dad is giving her a ride today while Christopher will be driving Rae. I wanted them to go together so they would be safer but there is still lingering animosity between the two of them so it's better if they stay apart for now.
"You will come straight home after school Willow, no friend's house, no after school program and no boys. Understood?" I tell her trying my best to keep the nerves out of my voice. Willow rolls her eye and fake salutes me.
"Yes Alpha sir! Jeez you're worse than dad!" She picks up her backpack and fixes her hair. "I'll see you in a few hours big bro!" She hugs me tight and runs to the door where our father is waiting.
Once the door slams shut and the car begins to drive away I sprint out of the back door, shift into my wolf and race my way to Rae's house.
Pushing my wolf as hard and as fast as I can I get a few nicks and cuts from nearby branches but I don't let it faze me. All that matters is that I get to see her before she begins school. Turning at the river bank that marks a mile from her house I can smell that she's still home and it makes me run faster. Thankfully it takes only a few more seconds before her house comes into view and I slow down as I get closer. Shifting behind a tree and grabbing some clothes laid in a plastic bag I run a hand through my hair and knock on her door.
"Coming!" It's Abrielle's voice that I hear and she sounds so mature now that she's ten years old. The door opens and Abrielle smiles at my presence. "Hi Luka! Come on in!"
I follow in behind her and close the door softly. She's much more bubbly than Rae was at that age. And she seems to really like bright colours as well. Her floral skirt is filled with pink and yellow daisies and her bright yellow top has a happy face on it. She really seems content.
"Lynn! Luka's here!" She smiles at me one last time before she goes back to eating her breakfast. I choose to wait on the couch because sitting seems to help relax me. But as soon as I get a stronger smell of Rae's scent I begin to tense up all over again.
High school isn't a bad place because I did just fine there but experiences for boys are never the same for girls. If a guy is mad at another they will fight it out physically and then move on but when females are mad at each other it's like psychological warfare. They are vicious little creatures that can hold a grudge for a very long time and I don't want Rae to have to experience that. Sure it was bad enough with Willow but my whole thought process is imagining what happened between the two of them times ten.
"Hey Luka." Rae comes down the stairs slowly obviously allowing me to view her attire for her first day. She's wearing a bright blue long sleeve shirt with a black leather skirt and a pair of boots with it. Her hair isn't straightened (thankfully) and she's not wearing much makeup either. There's a light sheen to her lips and a thin black line on her upper eyelid but other than that she's pretty natural. My first thought slips out of my mouth before I can stop it.
