Interview with Edilivre Publications, by Guillaume, August 13th, 2015

Farida Boumedjeria, in which area do you live in France? Or do you live in another country?

I live in France, in Tourcoing.

Can you please present your book?

My book is composed of 2 parts:

In the first part, I tell stories about my life, from an objective perspective. I present my thoughts on the problems of our planet, and I question myself about truths that are sometimes embarrassing. In the second part, I merge two worlds that are filled with life stories animated by imaginary characters, who live in an environment and situations that are similar to reality. My work covers a large range of topics: my relationship with God, my commitment to associations, my wonderful trip to Kuwait, and the importance of teaching as a coach. In terms of general interest, my book raises awareness among humans about promoting peace between different cultures, respect for human rights, society, and nature in all its splendor. I invite my readers to travel through literature with idealistic scenarios, real stories, anecdotes and modern-day topics, namely concerning headscarfs and islamophobia. In a way, my book is an atypical autobiography.

Why did you write this book?

This is my first time publishing a book. I started by composing my first draft with the joy of writing, by putting together my first words and then rearranging them. I tried to find the right words to raise people's awareness regarding such irritating topics. It's not easy, because I am a very discrete and meticulous person in everyday life! I am not perfect, and I will never be perfect, but I tend to be persnickety about everything. I wrote my manuscript with a lot of interest, because I wanted to express my feelings and pass on strong messages. I wanted to speak about the experiences, the consternations, the exasperation and the outrage that I have to deal with in my life, and also highlight certain points that some prefer to dissimulate: discrimination, racism, the loneliness and abandon of the elderly, sickness, the impressive and increasing number of homeless people, suffering, disrespect, indifference... In a nutshell, the ills of society.

To what type of readers is your book addressed?

My book is universal and is addressed to readers from all generations and cultures. Throughout my stories and experiences, far from hasty judgments, I don't teach any lessons but reveal my thoughts about topics that I want to share.

My readers will discover the real perception of the nature of the Muslim religion, which image has been wrongly tainted by islamophobia, deformed by sects, and misunderstood by others.

Which message did you want to pass on through this book?

Writing is my spokesmanship. It conveys my indignation when I see the destruction of nature and the madness of humans, which lead them to hate and violence. I would also like to spread a possible authenticity, in regards to the anxiety relating to the wave of attacks, with the use of my pen, by exposing the true values of the Muslim religion. I dare to use an inoffensive but formidable weapon: writing, to free Islam from the bondage of the media and confusion.

Getting to know others is accepting our differences and identities, a good way to encourage debates and peace.

Where do you get you inspiration from?

Life is what gives me ideas. I need to isolate myself at home, in peace and quietness, to transcribe all of my ideas on my computer. I mainly gain inspiration throughout the day, by meeting people along the way, then I just follow my meditation and inspiration throughout the night, my favorite time to recall my memories and reflection. I wanted to write with a new style, to make a portrait about myself then present my imaginative characters, which were created with great inspiration. Afterwards, I make up scenarios by playing with words, images, chapters and paragraphs.
