James and Faith met at a baseball game and instantly knew. Within a year of dating they were engaged and soon after than Elijah was born.
"So your real name is Loki?" Grace questioned.
"Yours truly."
"That's so weird."
"Grace and Elijah, that is enough."
Loki looked up at me and chuckled.
I rub my temple and looked at the clock, 9:45.
"Who's ready for bed?" I clap my hands.
I get Lily into her pajamas while the other kids dress themselves and they brush their teeth.
Grace, Lily and Elijah jump on my bed when we're all done. Loki stops me.
"Do you want to have one of the children to sleep in here," He gestures toward his room, "it wouldn't be a problem."
"I'm not sure..."
"Here, come with me." He says leading me into his room, he holds out his hands and mutters something under his breath. A bunk bed appeared in the opposite corner.
I furrowed my eyebrows, "how did you-"
"You obviously know where I come from, but I do excel in magic."
I raise an eyebrow, "Prove it."
"Come here," he holds out his hand, I take it. He waves his hand in the air and we were teleported into a different place. The air felt different, buildings were taller and many people were out walking on their phones, assuming on their morning commute.
"This," he looks at me and I look back, "is London."
I stand amazed, "so are we actually in London?"
"No. This is an illusion. I can take you anywhere in the safety of your home." With a twirl of his finger we were in a city I look behind me as a big breeze of hot wind touched the back of my neck and the Pyramids of Giza were standing in the distance.
"I've never been to Egypt before." I yawn, reminding me that it's about time for me to go to bed and Loki feels it too and with another twirl of his hand we're in his room again.
Knock. Knock.
Lily walks in, "Aunt Ivy? Can I sleep with Loki?"
I look at Loki then back at Lily, "Only if it's okay with Loki." We turn back to Loki and he nods. Lily jumps in enthusiasm.
"But you better be good, Chunk."
She rolls her eyes, "of course I will."
I walk out of the door and say my good nights.
I make sure everything is turned off in the living room and kitchen and go back into my bedroom and lay in between Grace and Elijah.
"Ivy? Do you think Dad's going to be okay?" Elijah whispered.
"Of course he will be. He's a strong guy." I held Elijah closer. I hold onto him and Grace until I hear light snores from them and decide it's time for me to go to bed too.

I woke up earlier to make everyone breakfast, I crawl down my bed hoping I won't wake up the two kids. I walk into the living room and turn the tv on just for background noise, I find the pancake mix in a cabinet near the fridge and combine the ingredients. I grab my trusty nonstick pan, heat it up and pour some batter in. After I finish the batter up I grab the egg carton and crack some eggs in the pan.
"What are you doing?"
"Dammit Loki," I jumped and burned my hand on the pan.
"I'm sorry. Let me see," He steps into the kitchen further and I meet him the rest of the way, I put out my wrist and he holds it. "Simple," he mutters something and the red burn mark is gone.
"Wow, where were you when I broke my leg when I was 13?" He gave me a look and I knew he didn't want to talk about his dad, "thank you."
"You're welcome, Midgardian."
I rolled my eyes and continue with making breakfast, Lily is the third one to wake up. I had just gotten done with hers and Loki's plates when she ran down the hall saying good morning.
How is this child so energetic in the mornings?
"Aunt Ivy! Guess what?"
I turn to her trying to match her same excitement, "what?"
"Loki took me to the zoo last night."
"What? Really? How'd you get him to do that?"
"I told him that I really wanted to go to the zoo and then he took me to it. We looked at the zevras!" Lily was still too young to pronounce B's, how heartwarming.
"Hey, hey. Don't let all our secrets out!" Loki jokingly exclaimed putting a finger to his lips, as we make eye contact he straightens up a bit.
She lowers her voice as she apologized. I take Lily's plate to the small dining table in the next room while Loki follows with his. Lily tries to reach a paper towel as I help her then I walk back into the kitchen. I put some pancakes on an empty plate, put the rest in the microwave above the stove and join Loki and Lily.
"Hey Ivy. Can we take Loki to the trampoline park?" With every word she said a little piece of pancake would come out.
"Maybe. We have to wait and see if Grace and Elijah want to go too and of course if it's okay with Loki."
Lily practically begs Loki, Loki gives me a questionable look as I shrug. "I guess?" Lily jumps up and down, throws herself out of her chair to wake up the others while I prepare their plates.
"Lily. I love you, but can't you just let me sleep?"
"No. We gotta go," she whined as she dragged out the "O."
"Lily. We aren't going anywhere until we get you bathed," I shout as I grab the used plates, there was silence, then shuffling to the bathroom. I follow after setting the plates in the sink and help wash her hair.
