Chapter 6: The Sorting Ceremony

         It was time for the sorting ceremony! Professor McGonagall told us to line up and explained how the sorting hat worked. Ida and I exchanged nervous glances. I glanced at Calathium too, and he gave me a reassuring smile. He's kinda cute. I could see Ida felt the same way towards Eremurus. He winked at her and Ida giggled. I ship it.
           "First up, Maggie Gracefield," Professor McGonagall said, after the sorting hat finished his song.
             Maggie walked up to the sorting hat, trembling. "Aaah, Maggie. Very good, very good- oh yes! Yes! RAVENCLAW!!!!!" the sorting hat yelled.
         The Ravenclaws whooped and cheered, clearly excited they received another member of their House.
          And so the names left on the list grew shorter, and I practically fell asleep until I heard Professor McGonagall announce, "Calathium Moore!!"
         I watched his every move, suspense rising. After a little bit of deciding, the hat yelled, "HUFFLEPUFF!"
        Good for Calathium. I clapped my hands for him. "Ida DeRomarc!"
        Now I was really nervous. "HUFFLEPUFF!!!!" The sorting hat yelled. I clapped again, but was kind of jealous that she was with Calathium. More names went by, and then Professor McGonagall called "Eremurus Wells!!"
          The sorting hat was placed on his head, and it took a while for it to decide, until it finally yelled, "SLYTHERIN!!!"
            Oh no! Eremurus isn't with Ida! I swear I could hear Ida sniffle. Calathium tried to cheer Ida up, but it didn't work. Then I realized I was the last one up.
             "Rissy Dayes!" Professor McGonagall called. Uh-oh.
             I tripped on the way up. The sorting hat was warm and quite cozy. I heard it inhale a big breath before it shouted, "____"
