Selfish

The day that Jacob was to leave quickly rolled around.
He and Connie had spent the three weeks together making the most of the time they had together but on the last day Connie was no where to be seen.
Jacob was saying goodbye to everyone at the ED and she had promised that she would be there but she wasn't.
"Charlie where is she? I need to leave, I've got less than five minutes" Jacob said.
"I'm sorry Jacob, but she's not coming. She couldn't face saying goodbye" Charlie told him.
"She couldn't face it? She told me to go for it, she wanted me to!" Jacob said.
"I know Jacob, she knew it was for the best, so she's not coming" Charlie told him again.
"Looks like that's it then, tell her I love her yeah?" Jacob said with tears forming in his eyes.
"I will, good luck Jacob" Charlie said.
"Thanks Charlie, thanks everyone" Jacob said then he walked outside to the taxi with everyone cheering.

He arrived at the airport fourth minutes later and checked in which was extremely quick because he was being flown over privately.
He kept checking his phone, hoping that she had atleast sent a text but there was nothing and it broke his heart.
He loved her, and he honestly thought that she loved him enough to say goodbye. He didn't believe all that stuff about it being too hard for her, since she had told him to go, he was starting to think she just wanted to get rid of him.

He went through security where he met Tony and Ziva then they were taken out onto the run way to the jet.
They all boarded then not long after they took off.
Jacob was pretty quiet throughout the whole flight, and Tony and Ziva could tell it was because he hated leaving Connie behind but they didn't want to bring it up with him.
They landed ten hours later then collected their bags from airport security.
Jacob didn't have much with him as everything else had been shipped over a week or so before.

They left the airport to be met with a black SUV.
They put their bags into the boot then Ziva climbed into the front then Jacob and DiNozzo in the back.
"This is Special Agent McGee, McGee this is our new Liason agent Jacob Masters" Ziva said.
"Hey" they said simultaneously.
McGee started the engine then they took the short drive from the airport to the navel base.
They all went up in the elevator then to a bullpen with many desks.
"Hi I'm Abby! I'm the forensic scientist!" Abby said happily.
"Jacob Masters" Jacob said.
He went to shake her hand but instead she hugged him which shocked him.
"Woah Abby give the guy some space" McGee said as he pulled Abby off.
"Sorry, I've had six caf-POWs today" Abby said.
"No problem" Jacob said with a smile as his phone started to ring.
He took it out of his pocket and looked at the caller ID. Connie.

"Sorry I need to take this" he said.
Ziva nodded then Jacob answered his phone as he moved over to the window.
"Nice of you to say goodbye" Jacob said.
"I didn't need to Jacob" Connie told him.
"Course you didn't, that's you all over isn't it. Selfish" he spat.
He heard Connie let out a sob and with that the line went dead but when he turned around he found Ziva, Tony, McGee and Abby staring at him.
He looked across the bullpen to find Connie stood at the end of it with tears streaming down her face.
He moved towards her instantly and pulled her into his arms as she cried into his shoulder.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean" he said.
"Shut up you idiot" Connie cut him off then kissed him.
"What are you doing here?" he asked as he gently stroked her cheek.
"I couldn't let our baby grow up without a dad" Connie told him.
Jacob looked at her with wide eyes, "baby? You're pregnant?" he asked.
"Three weeks, you managed to knock me up the first time we slept together. Idiot" Connie said through her tears whilst laughing too.
"So you're staying?" he asked.
"Looks like it" she said with a smile.
"I love you so much" he said before spinning her around in his arms so they were facing everyone else. Including Gibbs.

They walked over to the team hand in hand and Gibbs raised his hand and hit Jacob on the back of the hed.
"What the fuck?" he asked in shock.
"Rule number five, don't waste good. She's good. Welcome to the team Mr Masters" Gibbs said.
"Thanks, I think" Jacob said.
"And congratulations on the baby, and the job Connie" Gibbs said.
"Job?" Jacob asked with a raised eyebrows.
"Two words, Michael Spence" Connie said.
"Obviously" Jacob said with a smirk.
"I love you" Connie said as she lent her head on his shoulder.
"I love you too" Jacob said before kissing the top of her head causing Abby to squeal in delight at how cute they were.
