A night to ourselves.

Even though we basically had every night to 'ourselves' before Whitney moved in, it felt different this time.

Justin and I were watching a movie on the couch. We were wrapped in each other's arms, and for some reason, it took me back to when we first started dating.

I remembered our first date, our first kiss, our first everything. It made me a little sad that we weren't as obsessed with each other as we used to be.

Or, maybe we were. We definitely weren't as good at showing it anymore though.

I stood up from the couch and headed to the kitchen, Justin watching my every move as I did so. I retrieved a bottle of wine from the fridge, watching Justin smirk.

"What's so funny?" I cocked my head to the side.

He shook his head while standing up also, trying not to laugh. "You."

I raised my eyebrows, pouring him a glass. "Thought you and I could both use it after this week," I looked up at him.

He sighed. "Yeah, you're right."

We sat in silence for a few seconds. I swirled the wine around in its glass and looked off, thinking of nothing in particular. "What ever happened to your guitar?"

He was silent. "What?"

"Remember when we first started going out? You played it for me, right there," I pointed to the fireplace underneath the TV we were previously watching. I gave him a knowing look, reaching across the table to bring his warm hand in mine. "Tell me you remember."

"Yeah," he whispered while rubbing my palm and staring at our intertwined hands. He smirked. "I remember."

"Why don't you play it anymore?" I said quietly.

"I don't know," he shrugged. "Guess I just lost interest in it."

"Justin," I whined.

He laughed while standing, pulling me up with him.

"What are you doing?"

"Let's do something," he smiled wide and pulled me by my hand in the direction of the door.

"And go where?" I giggled as I watched him put his coat on.

He took a second to think about it, then smiled. "Somewhere special," he grabbed both of my hands and brought them up to his lips, kissing the tops of both of them. "C'mon, Jess. Just you and me."

I tried to hide my smile while watching his face as he waited for my answer. "Let's go."

The sun was nearly down and the sky was turning black, but the stars were bright as ever. Looking to my left to see Justin, I smiled to myself. There was no one else in this world I wanted to share this moment with.

I felt at peace feeling the sand beneath my feet. We weren't even necessarily on the beach, but living where we lived, there was basically sand everywhere.

I noticed Justin glancing at me once or twice, making me feel somewhat self-conscious.

"What?" I finally laughed while looking at him.

He shook his head while smiling to himself. "Nothing."

I hit him playfully which made him laugh even harder. "Justin," I whined. "What?"
