Chapter Nine

"Hey guys!" Mei called out over all the voices of the coffee shop.

"Hey!" They both replied simultaneously.

"This is Amber, Amber this is Maggie and Allie." Maggie turned out to be the red head, while Allie was the skater looking chick.

I smiled and waved to them both. "Well c'mon have a seat," Maggie patted the seat to her left. On her right was Allie, then Mei. There was one more empty chair next to me.

"Are we expecting someone else?" I asked while motioning to the seat.

"Oh yeah, we forgot to tell you Mei. Ryan wanted to come hang with us. He just hasn't showed up yet," Aliie mentioned.

"Sweet! Amber, Ryan is a guy from our school. He hangs out with us a lot too," Mei filled me in.

"Uhm, alright," I wasn't sure how to react to that.

"So Amber, where do you go to school?" Maggie asked me. Mei had warned me that they might ask lots of questions, but I was ready for this one.

"I'm home schooled." That wasn't a lie. I was home schooled, just not for the reasons they thought.

"Ahh, that's cool. I have a cousin who's home schooled that lives pretty close. Do you know Austin Price?" I shook my head. If they kept asking lots of questions like this, then I would dig myself into a hole eventually, and get caught.

"Never mind then!" Maggie said a little loud. A couple people looked over at us, curious as to why she was being so disturbing. We all giggled at her, and her face little up super red.

Just then, we heard the bell for the door ring. A nicely muscled and tanned arm pushed open the door. After the arm, came a nicely muscled and tanned body. He had dirty blonde hair, and kind of hazel eyes. He looked over at our direction and started heading over. Ryan?, I thought to myself. My question was answered when Allie pretty much screamed through the coffee shop.

"RYAN!" She hopped up and gave him a huge hug. He walked over to our table and smiled.

"Hey girls." He said as he sat down in the seat next to me. Everyone echoed 'Hey' at the table, except for me.

"Ohh! I forgot! Ryan, this is Amber, Amber this is Ryan." Mei said after a pause of awkward silence.

"Hey." I said, just glancing over at him. His hazel eyes weren't anything special, but for some reason they felt very familiar.

"Hey," He replied. "Do I know you from somewhere?"

"Uh, I don't think so..."

"Ahh must have you mixed up with someone else then."

"Yeah probably..." I gave him a weird look and he quickly looked away.

"I'm going to go get some coffee. Amber, wanna come with? I'll pay," Mei said to me. I looked around and noticed everyone had some sort of coffee in their hands. Ryan's was just plain black coffee, Allie's was just chocolate milk, while Maggie's was some pumpkin thing that I could smell from way across the table.

"Yeah, sure." I responded to Mei. I smiled and said "I'll pay for my own though."

"Alright, if you insist." We hopped up and headed towards the front.

"Do you think Ryan recognized you?" Mei asked me as we got far enough away from them so they couldn't hear us.

"I sure hope not. They all seem so nice. What do you think they'd do if they did find out my secret?"

"Allie would blow up, from anger that is. Maggie would probably get overexcited and demand to know every single thing about you and go to ridiculous heights just to hang out with you again, and Ryan? I'm not quite sure what he would do."

"Great, so I'd never be able to hang with you guys again, right?"

"Right. Probably wouldn't turn out so good."

"Yeah, but that's not gonna happen right?" I smiled at her and winked. I had only a few more days of shooting, than a doctors appointment, and then I was somewhat free.

We grabbed our coffee's and went to sit back down. They were talking about how there was only about a week of school left.

"So what are we going to do this summer? It HAS to be something fun!" Allie challenged.

Mei started, "I think we should make a bucket list... And then finish the whole thing!"

"Good idea," Ryan said. "And we can all contribute to the list."

"We should meet here tomorrow and actually figure this out," Allie said. "I gotta go babysit my little cousins."

"I can't I have to fi-" I caught myself almost about to say 'film'. Mei gave me a sharp look. "I have family priorities."

"Uhm, alright. How about Friday?" Maggie offered.

"Deal."
